Welcome to the double contest that I am holding!!

They are two different contests - (the details are below) anyone and everyone is welcome to take part in them, and for the Little Bat competition writers are welcome too!!

If you can offer any prizes or advertise the competitions then that would be wonderful!(thank you to those who already have!)


COMPETITION 1 - The Smaller One!

Ok, i've decided that due to lack of time i'm going to run a mini competition - I need a desktop to replace the current toshiba one which says toshiba and a nice pic of some desert canyons....!
So, the guidelines, needs to really have some blankish space on the left 1/3 as most of the icons live there, and it's for a widescreen 1920x1200 ideally.

A little like this for the layout

Colours and subject - rich, relaxing and elegant - so it could be an action figure but elegant rather than jagged edges etc.... i like female figures, nature, animals - have a look in my favourites to see what i've picked already, you can always ask me if you want to check an idea before starting work...!

My original idea had been for anime/japanesey type female figure doing a dance type thing....but i'm open to new ideas....!

Restrictions - as my family often see this computer then please bear that in mind...scantily clad is fine but porn is not, and a personal no no is child abuse, abuse in general, smoking unless it really adds to the image or vicious death - i.e. the act or result of dying, an elegant swordswoman would be fine, but a swordswoman covered in blood, preferably not, tho i might appreciate the image for it's qualities, it's unlikely to win as a desktop!!

End image will be used as my desktop but will remain copyright of creator, any requests to use etc will be forwarded to the artist in question!

To enter - upload the finished image to your own DA page and then let me know in a note with the details and a thumbnail of the image.

COMPETITION 2 - The BIG One!! - Little Bat Contest.

I was reading journal and there was a quote about a little bat - which i adapted to;

'I am a little bat, flitting thru the night, tell me your troubles, they go no further as i'm a little bat, and little bats tell no tales.... '

so basically, this comp is for an image or short story that conveys the image of 1)a bat, 2)forest, 3)secrets being told.

Pretty much anything goes, but no gratuitous porn, definately no child abuse etc - basically if someone is likely to really find it offensive - like illegal, then it's not a good idea to do - please ask if in any doubt!

The 'feel' to the image can be anything (i personally love goth type images...and cool fairies (not childlike cute but thats me....lol!), but i won't be biased when it comes to judging..!!)..i'll base judging on quality of work, how it relates to subject matter, the amount of imagination involved - if you'd like to create a short description behind your piece then that would be appreciated, i like to know what the artist intended!!

Any medium is welcome - traditional art, digital art, photo-manipulation, fractal, photography - if you can represent all the elements in the resulting image then go for it!!!

Written entries are also welcome and can be either poetry or short story - if you love the idea and want to write more as your own story then please feel free and please tell me - i'd love to read it!!
Many thanks to and for offering to help with judging any written entries - i love reading but my knowledge of whats technically good in either writing or in a story is limited, and poetry....i've not a clue, but i'd hate to exclude anyone - so go show them some love too!!!

Extra kudos to anyone who uses stock from or - if the comp gets big enough this might generate it's own little prize if your image wins and has this element in it.

Using stock - all stock must be credited, if it isn't and i notice or get a complaint the image and artist will be removed from the competition...only way back in will be with a note from the relevant stocker acknowledging that you sorted it out...sorry, it's harsh i know but it's only fair!

Judges - and have offered to help judge any writing entries . If anyone else is willing to help judge any part then please note me...!

I'll add extra ideas etc as and when i think of them...if you see any glaring errors then let me know please....this is my first comp so....be nice!! Please help make it good - pimpage would be welcome....lets get lots of people involved....yes?!!!

Just so it's fair to people, there will be a limit of two entries per person for this contest, but if you decide to withdraw an entry and replace it with another one then that is ok, so long as it is within the deadline. Again, you can only win one prize, so if you win the first prize then someone else will win the second prize etc!
