yes, it seems unbelievable but this is an electronic film for analog (film use) cameras. a great invention for people who really don't want to throw their oldie but goldie cam.
you know there are too much old cameras we dont use on the world now and too much of them are still very very far better than new digital slrs. they have great lenses, perfect mechanisms and very tough bodies.
what if a company would product an e-film that is at least 8 megapixel and for 100 - 200 dollars? what would happen to big "nikon" or "canon"? how could they sell their "very plastic - like a toy" cameras? I am sure I wouldn't buy becos even now I use an analog cam.
and lets come to the main topic, there is a company named "imagek" that tries this first. later they turned into "silicon films". the whole news about this company and this invention is from between 2000 and 2002. and on internet there is no news later. this is interesting.
think, you have a great invention, and even a prototype, but suddenly you stop developing it and as a whole firm you vanish.
I dont feel right about this.

A big issue as well is that digital sensors are a lot more demanding than film ever was. Most old lenses aren't sharp enough and those that are are expensive enough that if you can afford them you can afford a dedicated DSLR.
It's a nice thought to upgrade an old SLR but ultimately impractical.

"Most old lenses aren't sharp enough " are u sure? maybe they dont sharp but they have their own specifications. and yes, you can not expect hygienic frames like digital slrs do but you can have really original results. and on the other hand this tool will be very cheaper than buying a digital slr.
if you can produce a cheap e-film that is at least 7 megapixels, it can be get over that prejudice about being impractical.
Due to the design you cannot accept memory cards so the storage space is always going to be limited. At 7mp, even with 2gb of memory, I think it'll be too limiting. You can't shoot for a whole day with it. And it means everywhere you go you'll need a laptop to download images. Or have 2 e-film units, which is going to be expensive.
As for the old lenses you can get very sharp lenses that still work amazingly well. All you need is a really nice Leica lens. Which will set you back a large amount of money. Most old lenses were never designed with sensors in mind and, as I said, sensors require higher resolving lenses than 35mm film.

"At 7mp, even with 2gb of memory" the place for film is not a little place on analog cams. they can hold more.
"as I said, sensors require higher resolving lenses than 35mm film." hmm. this is a technical problem. hard to solve maybe. but we can get on well with some blurry photos I think.
we have to think more moderately. as you know this invention can save too much old machines. and in time we dont know will we be able to find normal films in shops.
