We all find inspiration somewhere. Whether its that annoying person at school that never leaves you alone [and yet always has interesting stories from his last sci-fi marathon] or the cat with the kinked tail that lives across the street that always seems to be found sleeping in your flower bed, or the books you used to read as a youngster. No matter where your inspiration comes from - eventually you [as the artist] will find a way to put it into a visual representation for us to admire.
But... when you finally finish that beautiful piece of art, where on earth should you submit it to, on deviantART? Well, in this article I'll help you to learn, using visual examples of previously [and some newly] submitted work, what should really be submitted to certain galleries.
With each section, the actual gallery explaination is included - which you can find when you look at the gallery information while submitting your work!
Below are a big stack of beautiful art work in their categories - and good examples of what belongs where. Once you become familiar with the type of work in each gallery, you will see what distincts them from one another, over time...
Digital Painting & Airbrushing:
Digital Art submitted in Paintings & Airbrushing are created via the use of digital tools that mimic those used in traditional ways of painting and airbrushing. With the help of graphical imaging programs such as (but not limited to) Photoshop, Corel Painter, etc., users can achieve similar, if not identical effects found in traditional art. Digital graffiti is also included in this gallery.
Enjoy!

Paintings typically based on speculative scientific discoveries or developments, environmental changes, space travel, or life on other planets.
Digital: Painting/Airbrushing - Surreal
Paintings with a dream-like quality and are not modeled off reality. For instance, the work of Salvador Dali qualifies as surreal.
Digital: Painting/Airbrushing - landscapes/scenery
Paintings depicting an expanse of scenery or landscape.
