For many of my watchers, it is no secret that winter is my favorite season. I've often been asked "why"? I will let pictures speak for me. The following are mostly photographs, but I have included one hand-done picture as well.

=karil is by far my most adored photographer on deviantArt. I get sucked in by his colors, and to me it seems he favors winter as much as I do. I've never viewed photos and been brought on the verge of tears because they remind me so much of childhood days, where I spent most of my time outside in the winter woods and open fields.




~Broken-the-Chains took this photo, Walk. It may not look like much, but I interpret it as a photo of silence. A silent animal, silent footsteps, the silence of snow, all in one of the most peaceful, silent places on earth - a cemetery. Did I mention... silence enough?



~Frider has taken a series of photos of the same tree alley within the different seasons. How I'd love to go visit this particular area and experience it for myself.



The next two are something I love to see in the winter - iced red berries. The contrast of red pops out against the normally dim colors of a frosted December. Berry Single by ~TheGr8IceDragon and Beautiful Goodbye by *attlid portray beautiful - but not edible - berries.



Ah, Neuschwanstein Castle by =Brothertheo. The timeless architecture that inspired Walt Disney's Sleeping Beauty castle. I've been in love with this castle since I first saw it in a video game 10 years ago called "The Beast Within". I encourage you to read about King Ludwig and his mad ways. Anyways, what is more peaceful then a centuries old castle nestled in the cold mountains?



And now, for another castle. Snowfall at Squire's Castle by ~photosby-q. This one is very dear to my heart, for it's in my hometown. I am also having my wedding here in a few winters. Squire's Castle is not really a castle, but instead was a gatekeeper's lodge. Another great story to read up on. It's now part of our metropark system and in the winter is truly a sight to behold at night while snow is falling.



Although not a photograph, I had to include this one. Marta in a Bustledress by =TheMysteriousK reminds me of the old world ladies. And cotton balls. Very cotton bally. Reminds me very much of a photo my grandmother used to have. I love it.
