Issue 9 ¾ :Now For These Messages…

This week, the DAOS, will only be talking about who we are, and the awesome things that we are planning as a staff. We are saving all of our energy for next week’s issue, which is our special TENTH ISSUE!! YAY, we made it this far!!!

Many people have asked about why we do what we do every week, here is our answer:

Our Mission for the DAOS Project: To educate and enlighten anime/manga fans and non-fans alike about the underground world that is the otaku community. We also wish to build and strengthen positive relations amongst anime artists here on DA and other artists on DA by working to widen those minds who do not quite understand why we do what we do, as well as promote all legal and fun forms of anime/manga artwork.

WE ARE CHANGING RELEASE DATES!

Starting this week, and from now until further notice, we will be releasing on Monday Nights instead of Sunday Nights. This is mainly in part to do with James and me not having enough time to get the issue done, and so we end up having to shorten or not cover items, as we would plan to. Now, if we are ahead of schedule, we will have it up Early Monday morning, but count on for sure to be here Monday afternoon. Hopefully, when we get more columnists, we can return to Sundays, but since James and I are the only two right now, and we work on Sundays and have school on Mondays, we just have to do what we can in order to keep writing for you guys!

That said, this next announcement should be a great tie in…

NOW HIRING COLUMNISTS!

Many fans have liked what we are writing, but in an effort to keep up with the constant changes that are taking place in Otaku Community, and in our own personal lives, it has gotten too hard for just two people to do! Therefore,, writers, who would love to make a decent break here in the DA anime community, this is the spot for you! Moreover, we will be continuing on an open rotation until we are full! Do not be afraid! We are looking for Otakus that come from all sorts of different lifestyles! So note me above letting me know you are interested, and we will see what we can do!

We are currently hiring for any of the following: DA Admin Relations, Editors, and any other odd writing jobs we may discover in this hiring process.

Requirements to Join the DAOS Staff
1) Must be a member of DA for at least one year with an active account. Artists of any media are welcome to apply.

2) English may not be your primary language, but the more you know the better!

3) All writers must write a prompt in which they will receive via-note from me about an anime/manga related topic. We will be judging all entries by the applicant's thought process as well as the usual grammar, structure and spelling. We will then notify all applicants accordingly.

Staff Addition Announcement

Supporters usually make the best members of this news project, because starting next week, friend of the DAOS, and fellow anime artist *Damaged927 will be joining the staff and heading up our anime/manga reviews! We still have plenty room for more Deviants who would like to join a growing news community!

NAME YOUR TOPIC CONTEST!

Want to know something about the Otaku world, but too afraid to ask? Well, the DAOS, is now accepting all suggestions and ideas for topics in the otaku world. Since there already is a news column about Anime/Manga art in DA, please try to limit your suggestions to ideas outside of DA and to the outside anime/manga world. If the DAOS, not only finds your topic interesting, but also can properly address your suggestion, then you personally will receive a 1 MONTH SUBSCRIPTION. And you can enter up to 12 times too! So you can win a WHOLE YEAR OF DA SUBSCRIPTIONS, just for telling us what you want to read about!

was the first Winner of the “Name Your Topic Contest”! He had two ideas, and we used one as the basis of Issue 8 on the DAOS-“The Anime Artist’s Retort to the Non-Anime Artist.”

Our second winner will be having his suggestion featured in Issue 11, which will be released on Monday, October 29th. Both of our winners just suggested to us what we should do and they won FREE STUFF.

THE SERIES THAT NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT CONTEST!!!

We here at the DAOS, always try to review the hottest and newest anime/manga series that are coming out. However, we are very limited in time and effort to research series that are worthy of a look here on the DAOS. And at the same time, we are planning a tribute to series that NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT in Early December!

So, if you have a series, that NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT, let us know about it. We here at the DAOS, LOVE TO GIVE AWAY FREE STUFF TO THOSE WHO ACTIVELY PARTICIPATE! If you talk about a series, that actually requires James and I, have to actually research and do detail work in order to review it and tell all our fans about it, you may win some awesome subscriptions, or some other awesome free items that James and I have been secretly designing for our online otaku store.

Upcoming Issues of the DAOS!!

Next week: We will be talking all about DEATH NOTE! Why it’s hot, why you should watch it, and it’s history and melodrama!

October 29th-Tools of The Artist’s Trade! Traditional media or digital? Which do you prefer, what is the best for your money, and what you should know if you are planning on converting from one form to another.

November 5th- The things you should know before you decide to enter the Artist Alley community. Everything from where you should start, how much it is going to cost, what to expect, and what kind of special items help promote not only you but your artwork as well.

November 12th-The Anime Class of 2007. We are going to be talking about the series that have had the biggest year, and the ones who haven’t as well.

November 18th-The Series that NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT. No Naruto or Bleach conversations here, we are going to talk about series new and old, that no one knows about.

November 26th--No issue, will be on Thanksgiving Vacation. However, be not afraid to give thanks to us in the forms of DA subs!
