Well, if you've ever stopped by the forums, then you're probably noticed `MurkHellsing, `Mrcrapinson and `conorschild. Since those ticks at their names make them seem quite scary, lets have a look at what they're really like. So here are 3 people who have been infected with senioritis!


Well, first the basics about them:

I joined dA while I was still in Venezuela, but I only logged in once before coming to the US, which was in August 2005. I was too n00bish to figure out how things worked.
I became a senior just about the time I became a #treefort member, and that was some time around July.

I'm very new to the Senior gig, having been one for only 6 weeks.


What was your first reaction/the first thing you did when you saw that you had been made senior? (besides running around the room screaming)

"WOW I'M A SENIOR! Now I can- ... umm... Now I am- ... hmm... so, my symbol just changed. Not much of a big deal, but it's still cool."
I got a little influence by popular opinions, so I thought that being a senior was a big deal

Well, besides rolling on the floor giggling, I gave Vernon a hug. He seemed to have faith in me, which is always a rarity since everyone is afraid of me.

I was actually kinda hungover at the time if I recall correctly, so it was more of a 'Oh, I'm a senior .' Then I had to go out for some reason, but I spent the rest of the day in a haze. When I logged back on, it was 'OH. I'M A SENIOR! D:>'
Then I took a course in arrogance and proceeded to tell everyone else how much they failed by.


There are 600+ seniors, what makes you the awesomest of all?

I want to lead people, but never tell them what to do or how to act. I see too many people get corrupted by authority, and start making demands they had no right to make.

To be honest, I don't do anything special. I occasionally give away free commissions (I've never actually charged money :I), but that's about it.


A few deviations by `conorschild




Do you think seniors have some sort of special mission? And if so, do you do the things you think a senior is supposed to do?

`MurkHellsing
I've made it perfectly clear to everyone that I want to use my seniority to do some good; but for now I'm just staying in character and hoping to set a murky example. I've always been helpful to people on a personal level, but never really got into any site-wide issues or dramas. I barely even battered an eyelid over the recent mature content scandal. Maybe thats a good thing, maybe not.

I think a senior is supposed to do what he or she has been doing since day one in dA. So, nothing special, just kill time and follow the rules... unless you're aiming for a deviousness award.

I don't think we have a special mission I think the main point is to be a good example to other deviants, what a good attitude is about the site. Obviously with the senior mentoring project (not that I feel I could be a member of that D: ) we can help out as well. I don't think there's any responsibility that comes with the tick though.


In this article I picked seniors from the forums. What do you think the seniors can improve in forums? (be nicer, etc) Do you think that it's important for seniors to be seen in the forums?

I don't think it's important for seniors to be seen in the forums, they're just there for the discussions and for the lulz. Influential people can help others improve in the forums, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it has to be a senior in order for that to happen.
Each individual person will improve in the forums if he or she wants to.

A reply from any member with some visible sign of experience can greatly change the reaction of a user. I know theres plenty of people who intimidated me when I was a new forumer!
In honest truth, I've gotten a shade nastier lately. Not because of the seniorship, either, just because I'm finding it harder to be entertained by the same topics.

Well, I think be nicer is the key. There does seem to be an attitude problem with the forumers right now. As a senior, you can't really tell people in blank terms - you're a senior, not a staff member. But again, setting a good example is something good to do.
Also, there's a lot of forum threads now that seem to lack spirit, so recently I've tried to add some of that in with my own. I hope it's working
I wouldn't say it's really important for senior members to be seen, other than to give a rough outline of what qualities a deviant should have.


Have other deviants changed their attitude towards you since you've become a senior?

`summaro in particular stopped treating me like shit. I think he separates people out by their status a little more than I do.

Some people ask me for guidance and some believe I have a higher authority over them, which is kind funny to me :U

What do you mostly do when you're on dA?

I try to jump on the forums when theres lots to reply to, but most of the time I'm replying to my fans. There were 22 new notes in my inbox today; and several hundred deviation comments. And no, I'm never going to disable comments!
Like others have remarked on, I'm trying to be a well known deviant without the "I'm right about everything" attitude that usually accompanies it. Its still there, of course, but anyone trying to get noticed will be met with resistance by cynics, and has a right to defend themselves.

Chat on #treefort while I submit deviations and visit the forums. I usually become more active when I'm trying to get away from my real-life problems.

Does it take you more time to interact with the community or do your art?

I do both at the same time, so it's hard to tell I'd say that I take more time doing my art, because I'm easily distracted :I
Sometimes, I interact with the community by doing art, so that's my way to kill two birds with one stone.

To do my art. Half the time, the community distracts me!

It takes 20 minutes to draw a picture and about an hour to reply to all the messages I'll have by the next day. I'm pretty busy.



Honest, what's the awesomest thing about being a senior?

Nothing. It really is just a tick and a pat on the back, and if I can't find a good use for it, I'll probably have it revoked some day. I don't like the idea of deviants thinking they can't come to my page and have a good time because they think I'm 'too good' for them or something.

Some (not to be confused with all) people are subservient to seniors, despite the fact that they're just regular people :U I guess they think we're members with a 'higher rank' or something like that.
