For Staff Appreciation Day (Oct. 16th) I've done a series of Interviews that will be posted through-out the week. I hope you all enjoy!
Interview with $
spinegrinder.
1. How did you come up with your deviantART nickname?
It's inspired by Cannibal Corpse, the death metal band I was listening to at the exact time I signed up to deviantART. Other than that, my username has no meaning.
2. What is your role on deviantART and what do you enjoy most about it?
I'm the Quality Control Supervisor of the Prints Service. Basically I review print submissions and promote prints on-site. What I enjoy most is picking outstanding prints to feature them and being able to view all the art available as prints in high resolution. It's truly breathtaking.
3. What drew you to dA in the first place?
First boredom and too much free time, then the interest in some of the kinds of art I was seeing on dA back then, dark art photomanipulations and nifty looking desktop wallpapers and application skins for the most part initially.
4. If you had to switch rolls with anyone on deviantART, who would it be and why?
Nobody, the dA fuckup that does a lot of things and nothing at the same time. Sounds like a fun job to me.
5. Out of all dAs achievements, which do you feel is the most important?
Its existence and survival.
6. What is your biggest pet peeve on dA? How about outside of dA?
I can safely sum up all my pet peeves into a big one: Human Stupidity.
7. What first drew you in to your chosen art form?
The desire to create the kind of imagery I admired.
8. What do you like best about your chosen art form? Is there anything you dont like about it?
In terms of photo manipulation, I like that I can turn real things (as photographed) into something new that might not or still be real, depending on the viewer.
9. What are your 3 favorite deviations and why?
1.

, because I was cracking up all the time while making it.
2.

, because the idea behind it is so messed up.
3.

, because of how well I managed to depict the whole idea behind with symbolism.
10. What have you struggled with most in your chosen art form?
My impatience when it comes using Photoshop. It's a great tool but I hate to use it for anything because there are so many possibilities.
11. What inspires you most and are there any deviations in particular that embody this inspiration?
I don't think anything or anyone particular really inspires me to anything particular. Things just enter my mind all the time in a way or another and some of them may come out again in a way or another at some point.
12. What would you consider to be your perfect day?
The "clean" version of my answer would be finally getting to meet and hang out with the people I wanna meet and hang out with.
13. If you had to list 3 things you think everyone should do in their lifetime, what would they be?
3 things huh? No clue. Everyone should do what they wanna do when they wanna do it.
14. As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up and how does it relate to what youre doing now?
Not as stupid as the people I was surrounded by, which I think I managed. I never wanted any particular profession. What I do now is just the right thing that happens at the right time with the right people and I hope it will be like that for a long time yet.
15. Describe yourself in 5 words or less.
Dreamer.
