Our visionary conversation unfolds with Greg Barts invitation to seek inspiration and direction in the integration of the known and the numinous, of science and art. I am particularly appreciative of Barts call for artists to find vision in scientific descriptions of nature. Indeed, there is an extraordinary awakening contained in the realization that the universe out there is more incredible, more beautiful, more intricate and sublime, than anything we might simply conjure in our own heads. The humility contained in this thought is an explosive engine of discovery. Rather than stewing in the surrealistic stream of a consciousness bound by the cage of ones own experience, the visionary travels beyond the beyond, seeking to integrate mysterious states of grace with revealed patterns in nature.
In Barts eloquent words, Science is not necessarily God, but its lessons are divine. Artists can direct their efforts to creating an art, a mythology, that is informed by cosmology and yet is captivating to people of all different worldviews and capacities for understanding.
Traditional Surreal Art in Deviant Art... (Just a few months Sampler...)
By Tassos Kouris,
There is not anything more magical than the moment that one blank medium, canvas, paper or whatever transform itself to a work of Art and not any Art An Art that defies the laws of logic as the human mind has accepted them An Art that is inside the works of the left hemisphere of mind (for the left-handed, it is the right), the place of fantasy, of dreams, of everything over the real that is surreal .
In the domain of DeviantArt there are many worthy surrealist artists in every aspect of Surrealism
I am not the one that puts one discipline over the other and there are many facets to the surreal creation
But as a traditional artist I have to toot my trade!!!! The magic of applying paint on an empty canvas, the smell of oil color and mediums and turpentine is more inebriating for a traditional artist than malt whiskey or vodka
The excellent traditional Surreal painters in DA are so many that any selection I make will not be discriminating and any omission will be by me and chance and I ask pardon in advance
So here is a small selection of the submissions of some of my colleagues in the time frame of some months
I could go on for ever....
Human imagination is endless .
See traditional Surreal Art and admire it .
