Printmaking Series Two - Intaglio Printing II

^stigmatattoo:iconstigmatattoo: reports, July 12
Printmaking produces images with visual qualities that are very different from those obtained through drawing or painting directly, and each technique adds its own peculiarities to the way each piece is conceived. However, with its odd and alchemical combinations of unusual materials, specific tools and enormous machines, Printmaking is often a strange and foreign territory even for artists accustomed to studio work on other disciplines.

TRADITIONAL ART DAY '07 ***ABSTRACT ART FEATURE***

*red-lights:iconred-lights: reports, October 19, 2007
As part of the Traditonal Art Day, and as an abstract artist myself, it gives me great pleasure to feature such an often misunderstood, and underappreciated category of art....

Abstract art comes in many guises, and has a history of many diverse movements.
It can take the form of the simplistic, to the extremely intricate.
Some abstract artists work conceptually with a purpose to create a piece of art, which questions the viewer- turning the art into a voyeur of human reaction.
Other artists work from an intuitive level, allowing the art speak for itself, while reinging it in at the crucial moments, training the medium like a wild brumby.
Abstract artists can often be typified as working in a kind of self-medicationg way, needing to express their innermost feelings and manic obsessions.

A successful abstract artist requires skill, expression, confidence and a fearless nature- and ultimately a deep understanding within themselves.
The thing which binds them all is the will to create a piece of art which speaks across borders, across cultures and in every language, directly to you. Asking you to see, to think, to feel.

I present to you a showcase of some of the AMAZING abstract work we have here on DA. I encourage you all to take the time to browse through the traditional art galleries... especially have a peep into Abstract for you will find mind-boggling talent abounds!
A HUGE thank you to Sandra :iconsbaraci: and Daniel :iconstigmatattoo: and all the other volunteers who helped make this day happen!

Don't forget to :+fav: your favourite pieces!

And no... I couldn't resist the Bunny!

HAPPY TRADTIONAL ART DAY!!!

Amazing features you have here. I can't imagine how people could possibly see those and still not be sure that Abstract is Art.
I think I'm going to have fun browsing some of these artist's Gallery.

And you gave such a beautiful introduction to these paintings, thank you!

Yeah,
It's more that some people question what the art is supposed to "mean".

It's not always supposed be described in words...moreso the images themselves and the feeling you get by viewing the piece.

Although some artists do conceptualise... depends on the artist!

Thanks so much for your comments :)
