The Synergy of Art and Science

*visionaryartists:iconvisionaryartists: reports, 1d 10h ago
Our visionary conversation unfolds with Greg Bart’s invitation to seek inspiration and direction in the integration of the known and the numinous, of science and art. I am particularly appreciative of Bart’s call for artists to find vision in scientific descriptions of nature. Indeed, there is an extraordinary awakening contained in the realization that the universe “out there” is more incredible, more beautiful, more intricate and sublime, than anything we might simply conjure in our own heads. The humility contained in this thought is an explosive engine of discovery. Rather than stewing in the surrealistic stream of a consciousness bound by the cage of one’s own experience, the visionary travels beyond the beyond, seeking to integrate mysterious states of grace with revealed patterns in nature.

In Bart’s eloquent words, “Science is not necessarily God, but its lessons are divine. Artists can direct their efforts to creating an art, a mythology, that is informed by cosmology and yet is captivating to people of all different worldviews and capacities for understanding.”

Three Colourful Artists- Traditional Art Feature

=amyhooton:iconamyhooton: reports, Oct 20, 2007
It's Traditional Art Day!

For Traditional Art day I've decided to feature three of my favourite traditional artists on dA. One from Russia, one from Brazil and one from Turkey. They all have a particular uniqueness to their work, individual style and hugh creativity. But you will also notice that they have in common a joyful use of colour!

:iconselfregion:

I met Cenin, a wonderful Turkish artist, very early on in my deviantArt experience and I have watched her art grow and develop over the last few months. From a tentative begining exploring lines, shapes, colours, depicting images of things from her daily life, she typically explores themes of the self in relation to the world. Recently her work has concentrated on the self portrait and has become much more finished and colourful. There is a overall feel of alienation in her work, something that I'm sure many people can identify with in this strange world we find ourselves living in as artists. She has a truly unique gallery and artistic language and I urge you to visit it.

:iconcloss:

Hmm, what to say about my favourite Brazilian artist! Eduardo found my gallery a few months ago and went on a faving spree! I was online at the time and found the stars falling around me very intriging so I went over to his gallery and was amazed to find an incredibly joyful, whimsical, surreal, funny and colourful artistic experience. His work mainly centres around the female nude but not in the conventional sense. His paintings make me want to fly, jump into them and run off into the colourful distance. Please visit and enjoy his wonderful work.

:iconezhov:

I met Dmitry only recently and his style immediately jumped out at me as being quite different and special. There is something quite child-like about his work. A strong naïve style developed well and humourously with great colour compositions. His work is quite abstract and surreal, themes he covers are varied and could be anything from alien abduction, myths, strange super natural creatures to pirates and still lifes. His gallery is fun and quite a treat for the imagination. Please visit him as he is a lovely Russian artist who deserves more credit for his great work!

So there they are. I hope you enjoy their work as much as i do!

Happy Traditional Art Day!

Excellent article Amy. The person I was going to choose turns out that, although he started off with loads of traditional art, has deleted most of those out of his gallery, leaving equally exciting, but digital art in its place! (*pesare) Unfortunately it wouldn't be quite fitting for this day to be uploading digitally generated artworks, even though they are equally as good!!!

Oh yes, his gallery is wonderful. Shame he's not showing his trad work anymore. There is only like two left. His dig work is very highly finished. Lovely gallery. So who are you going to feature instead?!

Uh I only just got this as I've been doing a watercolour which has gone wrong!!! I shan't be featuring anyone or uploading anything traditional today after all. I have a couple more interviews lined up for the next two weeks, and as many of these have been, and are going to be traditional, I just think it best to stick to that Monday routine.

Meanwhile I'm sorely pee'd off, because basically I messed up an area of my painting which should have had the highest luminosity to it (where there's a shaft of light), and because I made one mistake which I tried to rectify, there's too much paint on that part now, and the paper's beginning to rub where I've tried to lift it all off again! The rest of the picture is really quite interesting!

It's a very long time since I did watercolours, so it doesn't really surprise me, but it's a shame... Mind you, I could do an Amy Hooton jobby I suppose and do lots of gold work on it, lol! Naah it wouldn't suit the image!

Capitalism and religion kill the animals, individuals and society. They can kill you in a variety of ways, slow or quick. There can be no happiness or peace on this planet, no prosperity for the masses, as long as this slavery continues.
