$lolly's DVD Review...Crank!

$lolly:iconlolly: reports, March 5, 2007
Crank. A perfect name for one of the most unadulteratedly fun movies I have seen this year. The plot is fairly simple at face value. Chev (Jason Statham) is a hit man. A bad, bad violent studly old hit man. He awakes to find he has been dosed with a drug that will kill him within an hour unless he keeps his adrenaline up.

How to talk about "The Dark Knight" without spoili

~nukirk:iconnukirk: reports, 15h 1m ago
I came up with a quick way to talk about the movie Dark Knight (or anything else) without spoiling it for other people. I realize that I will want to discuss it with people that already saw it and in public. So, I explained the trick in my journal. Hope you find it useful!

The Dark Night: Very, Very Awesome

~EmeralFairy:iconEmeralFairy: reports, 6h 42m ago
A review for "The Dark Night" that will hopefully clear any doubts about the movie. I know I had some before seeing it, but now, it was totally worth it. The second act of the new "Batman" movies, is astounding and it is a must see.

Who loved it?

WWW: "My Kid Could Paint That"

`Doubtful-Della:iconDoubtful-Della: reports, October 22, 2007
A four year old is thrown into the spotlight for her paintings and then torn apart by the media. This movie delves into the life of Marla, and the age old question, "what is art?"

Oh man, that looks awesome. Poor little girl.

Yeah, so far from what I've seen from her website and news articles, it started as something innocent and fun, but I think that the father might have pushed a little bit too hard at least at one point. But what parent doesn't? They want their kid to be the best football player, the best ballarina, the valedictorian, and are always cheering and pushing and coaching from the sidelines.

So what's to say the art world is any different? At least she will have her college paid for, and if her parents bank the money right, she'll never have to work. She can just continue to paint, if that is what she truly wants.

I think one whole issue with this girls paintings was that the media started questioning whether she actually painted the pictures.
There was a lot about the fact that her dad was an artist or something and everyone thought that he painted the pictures and said that she did to get more fame..

Either way, I think the movie looks interesting.

Which I don't doubt that the girl painted, and I don't doubt that the dad could have tried to speed up the process when he saw the money rolling in. But I'd rather give them the benefit of the doubt. I'll have to wait until I see more to have a firm conviction either way

Well, looking at her stuff it does look much more detailed than Ive seen many children do, and its a lot more developed that most 4 year olds (I study early childhood at university and did a whole semester on childrens artistic and drawing development). But, there are always exceptions to the normal development process. Plus, she has been given huge canvases, professional equipment and has probibly seen her father painting before.
Id love to give children a huge canvas and all that equipment and see what they do when Im a teacher. I think they would come up with some amazing stuff.
Although Im still sceptical about her talents, Ive learnt now never ever to underestimate a child, because they are all so much more capable than we give them credit for. So Im with you, I dont think Ill ever make a complete decision about this. Its like a lot of high profile stuff, only the people taking part will ever know the true story. :)

I never even give myself big canvase, but I'm going to have to remember to let my daughter have some good stuff to work with. I just don't want her ruining my good brushes. I'll have to get her her own! But I think my daughter is more into music than art at the moment (she's only 16 months old)
