Best of... weekly photomanip features #137

*Iardacil:iconIardacil: reports, December 14
This newsletter was "born" back in March 2007. While things have changed over time, the essence of the newsletter is still the same.
We choose photomanipulations that have made an impression on us from the past week. We do not base our choices on preference or friendships and we have never featured ourselves. We simply pick photomanipulations showing creativity, technique and quality at the same time, and are simply eye-catching. As we are also stock artists, we will only feature the works that give proper credits to stock artists.

Getting to know your galleries - Vol 3

`astarsia:iconastarsia: reports, October 23, 2007
We all find inspiration somewhere. Whether it’s the dog from across the street that always chews up your newspapers before you get a chance to grab them, or the fact that your car just never seems to start right. No matter where your inspiration comes from - eventually you [as the artist] will find a way to put it into a visual representation for us to admire.

But... when you finally finish that beautiful piece of art, where on earth should you submit it to, on deviantART? Well, in this article I'll help you to learn, using visual examples of previously [and some newly] submitted work, what should really be submitted to certain galleries.

With each section, the actual gallery explanation is included - which you can find when you look at the gallery information while submitting your work!

Below are beautiful art works in their categories - and good examples of what belongs where. Once you become familiar with the type of work in each gallery, you will see what distincts them from one another, over time...

Digital Art> Drawings

Digital Art done via the use of computer-aided drawing tools or the digital techniques are similar to those found in traditional drawings.

Enjoy!

Fantasy
Drawings depicting mythical creatures and beings and supernatural elements.

Sci Fi
Drawings typically based on speculative scientific discoveries or developments, environmental changes, space travel, or life on other planets.

Surreal
Drawings with a dream-like quality and are not modeled off reality. For instance, the work of Salvador Dali qualifies as surreal.

Landscapes & Scenery
Drawings depicting an expanse of scenery.

Please keep an eye on my journal for more information on any future "Getting to know your galleries" editions.

If you have any information, dont hesitate to ask, or check out deviantARTs own [FAQ]!

Peace out, peeps
