Today's article may come as a bit of a surprise, given that the club posted one yesterday. Nevertheless, here's another one. Please let me advise that faving this news article will increase the chances of it being seen, and therefore increase the chances of the deviations within it being seen. I (~mrjans) contributed all of these deviations, so I hope you enjoy. ;)

Youtube -Be warned-

~Hutch-Wolfy:iconHutch-Wolfy: reports, October 24, 2007
Whilst browsing through the many videos on youtube to do with Lily Evans and James Potter, I happened to stumble across several youtube videos with pictures that I recognized immediately to be off DeviantArt, I don't like to rat people in or anything but this is a problem that needs to be acknowledged. DeviantArt should have better security system, I do have a suggestion, people who are aware that piczo exists, will know that there is a system where by you can't take the pictures cos when it tries it comes up with a message saying, ask the owner if you want this picture, now I'm saying if you want to use a deviation you should fill in a form to ask, now I know that seems stupid but at least it will cut down on art theft.

Thank you for listening and I look forward to hearing your views on the matter.

I've never actually thought about it, but, yeah. That does make sense. To fill out a form, and stuff.
But people could so easily use the Print Screen button...which sucks majorly. D:

Well, I don't think it's quite necessary to do that, what with the new watermark feature. Sure, they could print screen and steal it, but it has a giant copy of your username running across it, so people will know where it came from. That seems much better than making the submission process more difficult.

Thing is, people could just watermark their work or use dAs watermarking system if they were that concerned. You can disable downloads too but its pointless when you can right click > save as although if you provide it at a small res you can tell its yoinked. dA can't do much more the its doing but you bring up a fair point though I think in this day and age, we'll never completely stop art theft.

I do not think that deviantART should provide any further protection; you already have watermarks and no-download options, there's not much more that can be done, when the printscreen button exists.

Have to say though: I purely HATE watermarking images. It ruins all the fun, not to mention beauty. Seems to be the only way though, if your work is pro or if you do NOT want your work to end up in places where you didn't want it to go.

Yah.... Ive been seeing that for a long time. Thats how I actually got involved in DA, I think. I saw a video using alot of Snapesnoggers snape images, and the youtube user provided a link. <3

Of course, Ive heard of DA before, but I never even thought about joining. And now it's the best thing EVER. O:

But I agree. There's not much one can do when it comes to art theives. With the prntscrn button, and the copypasta, it's just all too easy.... But if my art were used in a YouTube video, I dont think I would be concerned. I would be flattered, actually..... But that's just me.

In my opinion, anybody who posts something on the internet just runs the risk of it being plaigarized. And, yes, that's too bad. hm....
