As an apology for last Friday's hiccup, we're bringing back the Two Picture Challenge (and starting a few hours early). But first: how much can you tell from an expression. The beauty of the picture below is that she could be harried, upset, nervous, grieving, just waking up, or any other number. If you look closely her story--all of her stories--are written all over her face. And it's those stories we asked our participants to discover.

fotoFRIDAY LVIII: Looking Out
What do you notice when you walk down the street? What do you really see? Every day you pass a hundred--a thousand--diferent stories, but how many do you stop to pay attention to? How many connect? This week we offer two outstanding pictures--pictures of captured moments, of honesty that can't be manufactured. Can you piece together their stories? Can you connect--one soul amid a thousand strokes of light?
Well then, what're you waiting for?

The goal is to somehow fit both of these pictures into your writing. If you want to find a common theme or thread, write something that takes unique aspects from both, or just find areas where they either connect or diverge, that's fine--but we want to see a little piece of each prompt in what you've written.
Of course, you don't
have to do it that way. You can choose one or the other and write about it just like any other week (or you can even write separately about both). Consider this an added challenge--an extra dimension--for those of you looking for a little more.

The concept is simple: write a poem, story, or short sketch inspired by the given picture. You can use the picture as a major component of your writing or just a small sliver--there is no definite rule in that regard. Want to write about sunsets? Sunrises? Drunken escapades on the beach? Love? Cell phones? Religion? Choices? The influence of Kantian ethics on Nietzsche's reading of Kierkegaard's interpretation of Cain and Abel? Go for it! The only limit is your own imagination. Consider this a weekly prompt to get those creative juices flowing.
After that, it's up to you to upload your writing as either a scrap or deviation in your gallery and paste the link
in a comment to the fotoFRIDAY prompt journal.
See how easy that is? Then why are you still reading this? Get writing!

Entries for this week's prompt are due 12:00AM (EST) on
Wednesday, October 31, 2007.
