WLOX Radio X will be playing "The Seventies: Bell bottom blues" Tuesday night at 8:00 PM Central Time. Infused between the music all night will be a bunch of different TV and Movies themes. Just some silly stuff I like to throw in to make you giggle.

Rock & Roll definitely took a new twist in the 70's. Several, I would say. The side effects of all the love, acid and psychedelics of the 60's created a whole new era of variations in rock music. Not only were there different formats, but there were also diversified themes that appealed to everyone interested in rock music. The rock & roll of this decade was a definite reflection of the attitudes in the society. Each genre reflects a different point of view.Many bands and super groups went "their own way" and created their own style to rock to.

Folk and jazz rock are a couple of the major forms to come of age during the early 70's.

The mid 70's were a time of wearing dirty patched jeans while looking as tatty, ugly and unwashed as possible. This also brought on the age of noise, amps turned up full blast and guitars squealing over the top. This lead to the well known heavy (metal) rock.

Later came punk rock, classic rock and new wave to close the decade. These genres have brought meaning to the 70's, but it's the artists that made the 70's as memorable as they are now.

Talented groups like Blondie and AC/DC helped to bring the 70's to life. Top artists such as Fleetwood Mac, Pink Floyd and Alice Cooper also helped to set the standards for great music. Other groups such as Status Quo and Iguana had the guts to go out and create their own style of music. They've paved the way for new artists to follow in their footsteps. Many people believe there wouldn't be the Wallflowers or Oasis if there had never been the Beatles.

Anyone could say that the 70's were a time of new birth and variety: the perfect foundation to lead the history of rock into the 80's.
