reports, October 29, 2007Since receiving the very first email last week, something had been screaming at me from the back of my mind that something was wrong. Thank goodness I listen to that still small voice.. I ask you to please repost this so we can reach as many artist's as possible before anyone else becomes a victim.
I also hope with this that the people responsible for this scam will be caught and stopped.
I will also be posting this on my deviant art account.
On 10/24/07 I was contacted by a person claiming to be Lisa Benson of Alabama......
*Hope this message finds you well ,I came across your web page while searching for good artworks and I will like to buy some of these creative artworks directly from you which i think will be great for my walls

I will be happy to have these selected artworks in our new home.What are their prices exclusive of shipping cost? We are moving from our Alabama home to our new apartment in London, I will appreciate an earlier reply. Thanks.

After several corresponding email's about the transaction she stated that her husband would be sending a certified bank check from England and that she would have her "private carrier" would contact me. I would need to pay the carrier from the extra money she was sending on the check. I did tell her that I would not send the art until the check cleared the bank but something still bothered me so much that I couldn't focus on my current art projects. I started asking "mrs" benson for more information on the carrier and the email's stopped. After talking to a friend of mine I did a little poking around the internet and found the fallowing.

I had not herd of any art scams until this point. If you are an artist and you have been contacted by any email's like the ones found at the art news blog you can report them to [link]
I was very lucky and did not lose my originals or any money. Some of our artist friends have not been so lucky. Please help us stop these people!
