The Beatles Around DeviantART

*livyer:iconlivyer: reports, October 22
Here you could see a few of the Classic and Amazing art of The Beatles.

“I have never seen anything like it. Nor heard any noise to approximate the ceaseless, frantic, hysterical scream which met the Beatles when they took the stage after what seemed a hundred years of earlier acts. All very good, all marking time, because no one had come for anything other than the Beatles...

DeviantMUSIC: Deviant Music Project

~ChadSyphrett:iconChadSyphrett: reports, October 14
The Deviant Music Project is for those of you, who would like to either:

1. Work together with me to build a huge music-collection at this site, which would have links to music from all over the world (including Candy Mountain-land!)

2. Convince the staff-members of this site to allow us to embed Playlists (like the playlist you can see, there: [link]) on the active-members' profiles at this website.

If you like the idea of having playlists on your DeviantART-profiles (or in your Devious Journals): Support the future-managers of the Deviant Music Project by telling the DeviantART-Staff to hire Chad Syphrett to work for them, as a marketer & spokesperson for DeviantART Inc. at YouTube, in 2 weeks.

New Age Music: Good for Mind, Body, and Soul

=stormyblueyz:iconstormyblueyz: reports, October 31, 2007
Society is rampant with discussion, and debate, about the "New Age" era. In recent years, many have been consumed by, or have consumed, the elements of this current age of enlightenment. The elements seem to be everywhere: they line the bookshelves of almost every bookstore, as well as the racks of almost every CD shop, and New Age mantras and mottos decorate everything from tee shirts to bumper stickers. But a little known fact is that there has actually been research on the subject, and the focus of this research was centered around music.

What really constitutes the “New Age” genre? Wikipedia describes New Age music as, “a style of music originally associated with some New Age beliefs. It has its basis in the work of various 1960s European and American electronic and acoustic musicians, and is generally characterized as being primarily instrumental and repetitively melodic in nature. Recordings of naturally occurring sounds are sometimes used as an introduction to a track or throughout the piece.”

The theory is that New Age music is good music: good for mind, body, and soul. Researchers report that individuals who listen regularly to music of the New Age genre are healthier, happier individuals. Most attribute this to the relaxing and stress-relieving properties of this type of music.

While the term "New Age" tends to bring to mind spirituality or enlightenment, one is not required to be a very spiritual person, or even to subscribe to New Age or similar spiritual beliefs, to enjoy and benefit from listening to this calming genre of music. Anyone who loves to listen to music and finds themselves in need of a calming moment, source of rejuvenation, or a romantic fire starter can, and likely will, find themselves enjoying this genre.

Brilliantly written. Thank you for this story. I have been trying to turn people on to it, all the while attempting to refrain from using the "New Age" moniker.

I featured a Prog Rock band from England on one of my radio shows recently, Ozric Tentacles, and while they are not in the genre themselves, they do have an offshoot project that is considered in this category, or more towards the "Space Music" category. They are Nodens Ictus.

I have an upcoming radio show planned to cover the New Age genre and have them listed as a featured band along with Loreena McKennitt, Enya, Mike Oldfield, Tim Story, Chris Franke, Tangerine Dream, Vangelis, Enigma, and many others.

Thanks again for taking the time to get out a good word. :blowkiss:

I agree wholeheartedly with Loxie. I try to keep from using the New Age term also. Great story!

How to get page views without doing a thing.

:) I agree, at least partly, with refraining from using the term "New Age..." But, it's nearly impossible when that's the section, at least in most record stores, in which one would find the music.

Don't you just love labels? :giggle:

Thank you for your comment - I look forward to the radio show covering the genre. Loreena McKennit, Mike Oldfield, and Tim Story are definite favorites of mine that I didn't mention in the article.

Thanks for commenting!!!!!

 I just love Loreena McKennit and Delerium. I've heard of ERA and Blue Stone, but haven't actually bought any of their stuff (at this point).

I'll be checking out MySpace to listen to more. Thanks for these suggestions!! :D And thanks for commenting!
