Merry Halloween all deviant artists, though Halloween was yesterday I might inform that this is not one of my favourites holydays in the whole year but my very favourite day of the year, in my country Halloween is not well celebrated, as a matter of fact it might not even go further than just some orange and black balloons hanging at the shops fronts and some pumpkins and ghosts glues to the windows. The thing is that word Halloween is told to be a Scottish contraction derived from the proper name “All Hallow’s Eve” it falls in the day before the Catholic “All Hallows” and Halloween is also known as the Day of the Dead so is MY DAY

I’ll give a fast review of what is done in some countries on Halloween so that you can have an idea.
Austria= Leaving breat and water on a table with a lighted lamp will help to welcome dead souls back to the earth.
Spain= a pastry called bones of the holy is eaten on this day, it has the shape of a skull and contains anise seeds and is orange glaze, kids play tricks or treats and then families go to the cemetery to visit deceased.
Japan=Water and food is placed in from of a photo of the dead. Lit lanterns are set afloat upon the water or next to the body of water and they believe this lightens the way of the dead’s soul back to the earth, they call it Obon Festival.
Germany= They put away all knives oh this day so that they returning spirits won’t be “accidentally” hurt durying the celebrations. Cemeteries are cleaned up and Wreaths and lanterns are placed at family graves sites. “I wonder how can a spirit get hurt with a knife ALL MY RESPECTS TO GERMANS BTW ”
Italy= these people sets a bountiful table and then goes to the church to pray for the souls of the dead to come back and eat what they have left. One of the very traditional foods cooked in this day is a bread or cookie called “Fave dei morti” or bones of the dead.
Mexico= they celebrate it with picnics served and eaten, most of the times this takes place at the graves of the dead. Kids go running on the streets asking for coins and candies. They hang lanterns outdoors, have fireworks and other kind of festive situations.
Russia= they believe that blue cats as the Russian blue, Burmese and British blue cat bring luck on this day so I don’t know I suppose they go and get some kitty of those or something but ehehehe I can imagine a house of a Russian after several years of celebrating Halloween.
Ireland= they have amazing traditions in this country, they specially light Jack O’Lanterns and is thought that these tradition started there. The story of this says that there was a very mean man named “Stingy Jack” and he was so mean that he was not lead into heaven but as well he played so many tricks to the devil that he couldn’t be allowed in hell either, so he was destined to walk on earth for an eternity carrying a carved-out turnip with a glowing lump of coal inside. So these people believe that if they light these lamps they’ll scare Stingy Jack’s spirit when it comes.
Scotland= They also share the legend of the Stingy Jack so they hollow out turnips or potatoes and set a lit candle inside.
North America= They make Jack-O-Lanterns by cutting out parts of a pumpkin, a spooky face is carved and a lit lantern is set inside, children wear costumes and go door to door asking for candies and here is where the famous Trick or Treat comes to page.
India= they celebrate “Mahalaya” which is a religious ritual believed to awaken dead spirits, they believe that if they do not perform this ritual the dead souls won’t be able to rest peacefully for the next year.

Regardless of the place where you are in the world, Halloween is a very important day to celebrate in my personal opinion, not only because of the silly trick or treat games and the pranks, that most of the times are performed, but because is about one of the only dates of the year when people actually gets to remember those ones that has passed out, there should be several Halloweens in a year in my opinion, so HAPPY HALLOWEEN TO EVERYONE.
