I'm looking for deviantART's best "Thank you!" letter. Thanksgiving is coming up in America, and I've been in quite the appreciative spirit of late, so I figured this would be a good way to spread some love and gratitude.


Contest Objective:

Write a "Thank you" letter to someone.

It doesn't have to be a real someone, you don't have to "name" the someone, and you don't even have to be that thankful. It can be sincere and heartfelt; it can be bitter, sarcastic, and jaded; it can be funny, absurd, or silly; it can be completely formal or totally informal. It can be a letter you've sent, a letter you've never sent, a letter you've always wanted to send, a letter addressed to more than one person, a letter you'd never send in a million years, a letter you should've sent, or something completely and utterly made up for the benefit of this contest. Regardless, it has to be a "Thank you" letter; you must be thanking (or "thanking") someone for something. Make me laugh, make me cry, make me cringe--just make me feel.

Also keep in mind: grammar and spelling are often important, but sometimes it's the sentiments behind things that make them powerful and worthwhile. Don't be discouraged from entering if you're not a literary master; I'm interested in what every deviant has to say.


Rules:

1. It must be a letter (including a salutation and closing line);
2. Your letter must be a new deviation or scrap uploaded to your gallery;
3. Prose submissions should not be more than 3,000 words;
4. Handwritten, scanned letters are acceptable as long as they are clear and legible;
5. No more than two (2) submissions per person;
6. Letters should comply with dA submission policies and standards;
7. All entries must be received by 12:01AM (GMT) on 16 November 2007;
8. You can't write a "Thank you" letter to me. (No sucking up to the judge!)

Prizes

Among a spattering of features and tons of good will, there are promises of devWEAR, prints, subscriptions, and other goodies in the works. The prizes are donated and almost settled, but I don't want to designate them until I see how many entries I get. I think that'll keep things fair and let me to honor as many deviants as possible.
