Help the victims of the flood in Tabasco

*Hadarniel:iconHadarniel: reports, November 2, 2007
Hello fellow Deviants,

I come to you with unpleasant news, which are, however, extremely important. It is lives I’m talking about, lives who need our help to survive and recover. Please read on.

Last week, a cold front reached Mexico. The western regions and central areas simply suffered a decrease in temperature, nothing to worry about. But in the state of Tabasco, in the southeastern coast, in the Gulf of Mexico, the cold brought significant levels of rain. It rained for days, and a huge amount of water filled the rivers to their limit. Normally, the numerous rivers in the state would send the water excess out to sea, to the Gulf of Mexico, but this time, the cold front also brought an effect upon the coast. Called the ‘North’ effect or something similar, it’s when the tide rises because of certain weather conditions. Thing is, with the tide much higher than normal, the sea didn’t take this excess of water, and it returned to land, to the rivers. The rivers grew so large, they’ve flooded the area. Even worse, is the fact that the state of Tabasco has no mountains or highlands, it’s basically a huge plain, and the people have nowhere to go because most of the state’s surface is now covered in water.
All of this according to the news forecast of Televisa.

The capital city is basically a lake.
There are about 1 million people who were left without food or shelter.
These people also lost most of their belongings.
About 80% percent of the state's surface is now covered by water.
Almost 50% of the state population has been affected.
In some urban areas the water levels have gone up to 4 m.

You can find more information by simply going to Google News and typing Tabasco

Additionally, if I heard right, the state of Chiapas was also affected by this disaster.

Now, any help from anyone is good enough, no help is too small. Don't be embarrassed or overwhelmed by this, simply try to imagine how these people are feeling, and remember, you can make a difference.

Awareness helps the solution. You can help spread the word by placing a :+fav: on this news article, featuring it in your journal, writing a journal entry about it, linking back to this article in your signature/journal, or merely by telling others.

Money donations are possible too, but I am uncertain of how they are being managed. I believe the HSBC bank is involved in this, so if you would like to donate money, go to the nearest HSBC and ask how to do so please. Any amount is helpful, and it’s appreciated.

Think of this:
Even if it doesn't affect us directly, it affects the heart and soul of humanity. Heal that heart, help these people. We never know when these things will happen, but they do, and when they happen to us, we want help too. Each and one of us is part of all, and all of us are the same one.

*Hadarniel:iconHadarniel: Nov 10, 2007, 6:06:45 PM
It's not mother nature's fault
It's worse, because it was all our fault. It had been foreseen years ago, and the government did nothing, and everyone ignored that
