This is the second in a series of articles regarding the Animals, Plants and Nature gallery. This article features a more in depth look at some of the more mysterious categories.
Click
HERE for the first article.
Geology
Photographs of naturally occurring geological features. This does not include Landscapes or Waterscapes. This category is a bit misleading since geology is defined as having to do with the science of rocks, but here are some common mistakes:
- a lot of shots are
Landscapes and
Waterscapes, which both have their own categories
-
Architecture pieces belong in their own category, this gallery is for natural features
- Trees should be placed in
Flowers & Plants and not here
- Animal shells do not belong here and can be placed in
Miscellanous or
Macro depending on the circumstances of the shot
- Small piles of Stones are not Geology. Neither are images of mountains and hills
Remember, this category should feature naturally occurring geological features that should not be influenced by man and should not include animal remains.

Weather
Photographs capturing the weather at a particular point in time. Sounds a bit vague, right? But ^
KevLewis clarifies it saying, Weather is basically any form of weather condition but generally it will be storms, weather fronts, rain, lightning, snow, rainbows. So lets not make these errors:
- Sunsets belong in
Sky because they are not the weather.
- Shots of trees and
leaves belong under
Flowers and Plants
- Remember fall is a season, so that does not mean you should put all of your fall tree pieces under weather.
We have all experienced different kinds of weather, so think about that before you consider whether or not to put your photo here.

Underwater
Photographs of underwater scenes, taken from under the water. That is pretty clear, an underwater image should be taken below the water line. We still find these miscats:
- People do not belong in this category, especially if they are not even underwater
- Shots taken of fish being held or above water should be placed in
Wild Animals
- Marine mammals, such as seals and dolphins, above water belong under
Wild Animals, similarly done with reptiles belong in
Reptiles and Amphibians
- If the shot is taken above and looking at the water it does not belong here, this could be of rivers or animals
Remember that the shots must be taken below the water level, or under the sea. A deviant with some great examples of this is ~
carettacaretta.

Miscellaneous
Now this category is always a bit painful to look at because it ends up as dumping ground, but it doesnt have to be that way. Most the images have their own place in this gallery and should not have to be put under Misc.
- Empty shells or animal tracks could be placed here
Always remember that photos of people and your stuffed animals do not belong in this gallery.
If you see any of these or the previously mention mistakes then please use the Report Policy Violation button or kindly inform the deviant via the note system. Lets try and keep Animals, Plants and Nature a clean place to browse.
Thanks for reading and stay tuned for more articles.
