Literature

A Year Old

#TheWritersMeow:iconTheWritersMeow: reports, November 9, 2007
:w00t:The Writers Meow celebrates one year mark today!:w00t:

We want to say thank you to all of our awesome members! You are the reason for this club. When :icontrelore:, :iconspunkonastick: & :icongranny-chobit: first put this club together, we had no idea how fast it would grow or how much it would come to mean to us!!

Recently we had a poll inquiring if the club had assisted members in any way, and here are some of their wonderful responses:

:iconprimpdaddyj: “I've had many great people read my work and talk to me about it. The critique isn't only in discussing how it's written, but the content as well. I owe it to the few people who took the time to talk about my work for the massive strides I've taken in writing. I'm currently waiting on the publication of one of my poems, and that's much sooner than I'd have ever expected something like that to happen.”

:iconmental-mishap: “Being a part of this club has also made me a lot more confident as a writer and I think that shows in my poetry. The other great thing is that I get to read a whole variety of different writing that I might not read if I wasn’t a part of the club. And lastly, this club makes me want to improve even more as a writer in the future and has increased my love of poetry and all forms of literature.”

:iconfelousefarnayne: “I get to see how everyone writes compared to me and see if my songs reach the standard of great lyrics or not.”

:icondeep-emerald: “I believe that the best way to become a good writer is to do two things: Read and Write... The Writer's Meow allows me to read through other people's work, critiquing (which allows me to prevent myself from making the same mistakes) and admiring (which allows me to see what good poetry or prose looks like, and what I can do to improve my own writing)...”

:icon135711cal: “But already, I can see the help my words have had upon others. I can feel the nudge of encouragement upon me.”

:iconmdog02: “I've had numerous suggestions from club members that have helped me to improve parts of certain pieces.”

:iconautumn-hills: “The club has helped me in that I think I know more now what I am good at, or at least what other people like.”

:iconablessingandacurse: “Submitting my works to you has helped me find out more of the things i needed to improve, has helped me define My poetic voice and inspires me to write things I wouldn't have before....”

:iconxiangrei: “What can I say that hasn't already been said? This is a very helpful community!”

:iconbatousaijin: “It's a good networking club. I've made some fast friends here. The tips and resources you offer are also helpful.”

:iconrain-dazzle: “This club has not so much improved my writing skills, but moreso my confidence in what I write. Before this, I never really had anybody to critique my poetry, or compare any of my work to, and now, through the writers meow, I have gained the much needed confidence to have pride in what I write! THANK YOU WRITERS MEOW!”

:iconcayden: “Those two or three poems I submitted gave me great feedback, and helped me improve on some points in my writing.”

:iconcolossus999: “This club has helped me a lot, and I'm still on the beginning of the writing road, but I think having companions on the road makes the trip shorter, lighter, and more fun.”

:iconkittyfantastic24: “This club has helped me with: *My confidence *Making some great friends
*Improving my grammar and punctuation *Hints and tips from other writers *Thinking more about life's musings and philosophies *Analyzing my writing style and areas where I could improve *Supportive and creative comments from other members *Having the discipline to actually sit down and write *Appreciating that time set aside to write is not wasted time *Being brave enough to submit my work for others' critiques *Being brave enough to enter competitions for writing *Exposure to other ppl's writing and styles *An appreciation for other ppl's experiences and thoughts *Daring to dream and being inspired to actually write that book I've been considering since the age of eight lol!”

:iconangelzodica013: “And for those who took the time to read what I wrote and give me advice and never once said how bad my work is just wonderful. This is an amazing club.”

:iconradioactivist: “The critique I've experienced and received from writers both more talented than I am and those who are of the same has influenced the shape of my work.”

Very cool I am so glad that our club is achieving the dream granny, Di and I have for it. Which was helping people. Helping them to realize that their dream of becoming a writer, is possible. Mainly because when I first came to DA I kept running across people who were incredible writers. But thought no one liked their writing. People like Mrs Wabbit and others. I am glad this club is accomplishing that. It makes me proud.
