A quick guide for you to shooting self-portraits. I will teach you here few important basic things for self-portrait photography and also give few resources for portrait photography to continue learning.
Here are 100 (and a few more) of some very nice photographs on deviantART that I think should get some attention. Some already have a fair bit, but deserve it. So I'm giving them more.
In photography you need to know that nothing is miscellanous, so here is 10 simple tricks to get the best results in photography:
1. Overexpose and Underexpose
When the sun shines on your subject, change your exposure compensation so that it reads in the minus column(underexposure) to deepen your colors. When youre shooting in deep shade, try upping your exposure compensation to the plus column (overexposure). Youll get an artsy effect thats almost impressionistic.
2. Emulate the Masters
Run a search on other masters names in a search engine to find other classic works and styles that you can re-create and tweak with your own style.
3. Shoot on a Cloudy Day
Light shining on objects makes color and shadows. Conversely, clouds and overcast conditions remove color and shadows. The gray tones
resulting from a lack of shadows are filled with emotion. A broken woden
park bench among autumn leaves, inches deep onthe ground, offers symbolism that keeps the viewer in though. Take advantage of this low-light opportunity to exploit the soft tone and variants of gray to compose an art photograph.
4. Create a Matching Background
Creating a natural-looking background for a picture is one of the first things youll want to do as a digital photographer. Placing an object from one photo onto a faux background can clean up pictures that have too much going on in the background.
5. Build Your Archive of Backgrounds
Having a variety of backgrounds can help you clean up your images if they need it. Sometimes you cant avoid clutter or distractions in the
background of an image with a really good subject. In many of my pictures of signs, thats exactly the case.
So these are the five tricks ... hope they help. Just keep it simple and original. Go out there and take shots and take shots shots shots.
Now it's time for August 2008 Visual Art Features, many new art to discover!
Don't forget that many artists need to be viewed, they deserve it! Fave Fave Fave! My main purpose in doing a monthly feature about (to my point of view) 'the best visual art' is to put in the same level as well wellknown artists and popular creations as unknown artists and under-exposed creations. Artists need to be supported. So don't be shy!
