`SparrowSong on writing, critique and her passions

^lovetodeviate:iconlovetodeviate: reports, September 28
An interview with writer, critic (critiquer?), lit senior, `SparrowSong. Here are some tidbits:

“I like that my passions change. If nothing else, it gives me more to write about.”

“Everyone has heard the expression, ‘Give a man a fish, he eats for a day; teach a man to fish, he eats for a lifetime.’ If you don’t learn to critique, you will always be dependent on others to help you instead of being able to do it by yourself.”

“Art changes how we view the surface of the world to reveal truth or beauty—or both—underneath.”

Nia Black...Finally In Print!

=Dualmask:iconDualmask: reports, November 12, 2007
A heroine will rise...but not for free.

After sitting on his massive manuscript for years, Jonathan Price has finally found an outlet for exposing his creative vision to the world, by publishing his definitive work of imagination through Lulu.com.

Off and on during lunch periods and breaks on his Federal Government job, Jonathan Price has written an exhilarating, 372-page adventure novel with a great juxtaposition of intense action sequences and steamy relationships.

Not content with the usual fare of African-American writers, Jonathan Price has strayed from the typical pitfalls of drug dealers and urban romance. He has created a truly unique adventure story, with strong black characters at the forefront of an engaging plot that moves along at a brisk pace.

Clyde Andrews, who helped with editing much of the prose, comments on the protagonist of “WEAPON”: “I like Nia. She’s smart, charming and while she does bad things, she’s got a great heart. …Refreshing.” William Rendfield (~EchoWing) calls the action-packed adventure story "...an excellent ride."

Now the definitive creative work of Jonathan Price (=Dualmask) is available via print order or download on Lulu.com.

:D Indeed. And this is only the beginning. With this weight off my shoulders (so to speak), I think I might finally have it in me to go forward with an attempt at a graphic novel based on this story... or at least a series.

Congrats on getting the story published at long last. I've only one quibble...

...you got my name wrong. 'Rendfeld', not 'Rendfield'. Happens all the time, but still...annoying.
