reports, Nov 13, 2007 On the 24th to 25th of November, Romanian deviants will cross the Danube river to meet our fellow deviants from Ruse, in view of a cultural and artistic exchange between Romania and Bulgaria.
The event will feature a visit of the town Ruse, (which boasts a neobaroc and neorococo style of architecture) with a population of over 170.000 inhabitants, as Ruse is the 5th largest city in Bulgaria). Also, we will visit lesser known tourist attractions, such as the highest TV tower in Eastern Europe. Among known visiting sites is the Sboryanovo archaeological reservation where the Thracian Tomb in Sveshtari is situated, described by critics as "a remarkable reminder of the culture of the Getes, a Thracian people who were in contact with the Hellenistic and Hyperborean worlds, according to ancient geographers".
The Bulgarian cuisine will not go unnoticed, and we will also visit the Teketo region, situated about 10 km from the city.
An elegant "Mini-Vienna"
"With immaculate gardens of red tulips and violets, pine trees and working fountains, surrounded by sprightly, refurbished neoclassical and neobaroque municipal and cultural buildings, Ploshtad Svoboda, or Liberty Square, seemed to have been plucked from a Hapsburg realm and transplanted in its entirety right in the heart of the Balkans."
This meeting is organised by the main Romanian club, *RoWatch, in colaboration with our fellow deviant ~xdaft, and it will be the first international dev-meet in the Balkan area. We thus take this opportunity to invite all Bulgarian deviants, especially those living near Ruse, to this wonderful event.
