_{So, I've never submitted any news before, and I was a little wary about submitting this...but...since we are two weeks from the initial deadline, and only have 11 entries... I'm doing it anyway, and pushing back the deadline}

So, what are you TALKING about, woman?


This contest has been months in the making, just as S.H.A.R.D.S. has been years in the making.

In celebration of the fact that we are publishing a tabletop version of our game, we decided to run a contest and make everyone a part of it. We even made a weird video to introduce you a little to the world:" WELCOME TO SHARDS"

There are three categories you can enter:

General Modern Fantasy
Shards Related
Shards Fanfiction.

We are accepting entries from the following medias: Traditional Art, Digital Art, Photomanipulation/Mixed Media, and Fanfiction.

Obviously two categories require a little more work, which you will be rewarded for. In order to enter the Shards Related Art/ Fanfiction category, you have to know a thing or two about the world, and so must familiarize yourself with our website:

More emphasis on the world than on our original characters/organizations may be the best route to take, as it will earn you more points.

What stock can I use?

Glad you asked. Because of the nature of this contest, if you desire to win, you should use stock that allows printing/commercial use.

Never fear though. We have compiled a lovely stock pool to pull from, some who have allowed commercial use solely for this contest. In other words, you must use stock from the following:


(Only Stock from the John Muir House is unprintable, so do not choose those)
(only stipulation: E.S.P. images must have a location credit in your description that says "Eastern State Penitentiary, Philadelphia, PA")
(scraps are off-limits)

You may use other stock in addition, but make sure you obtain print permission from your stock provider. If you can't print it, neither can we. We'd also prefer that you pull at least one model stock piece from the above providers. (But it's not mandatory)

Which brings me to my next point regarding sxc.hu:

You may use images from sxc.hu if, and ONLY if, you link directly to each picture you've used, that the judges may view that images licensing information. If you credit any stock images incorrectly, it is possible that your entry will be disqualified. Make sense? Standard restriction photos are your best bet.
