Gallery v2 Launches at deviantART

$spyed:iconspyed: reports, November 16, 2007
We've got some exciting news regarding your Galleries today, check out the short video below for a demo of the new features and some hilarity.

Gallery v2 In review:

:bulletgreen: Featured Gallery, Everything Gallery, and Category Drop-Down

By default your Gallery will now default to the "Featured Gallery". This is where you can present the art works that best define your Gallery. The "Everything Gallery" shows off every deviation you have ever submitted. And the NEW Category Drop-down Menu displays only categories and sub-categories of deviantART that are relevant to your work!

:bulletgreen: Gallery Folders

Organize your art and your gallery based on your own categories, styles, groupings, etc. etc.. When you enter edit mode by clicking on the blue "edit" button in your gallery, you have full control over your gallery and creating new folders. Create and title new folders by clicking on the blue "new folder" button on the left side of your gallery.

:bulletgreen: Drag and Drop Deviations

You can now rearrange the order of your featured gallery by dragging and dropping your deviations into whichever order you would like them in. Additionally, you can drag your deviations right into your newly created folders. The folder icons get automagically generated based on the deviations inside of them. You can also move deviations into a folder by clicking on the blue drop-down menu underneath a deviation and selecting the appropriate spot.

:bulletgreen: Folder/Gallery Descriptions

You can share information about a specific folder by clicking on the blue "options" button in that folder. These descriptions appear in the top header of that folder.

We have worked really hard to make these new gallery options available to you and we hope you like them. I would like to extend props to $pachunka, $Morris88 and $jekor for making the magic happen.

We hope you enjoy these new features and we all looking forward to seeing what you do with your new Gallery!!

Okay, I giggled. Great video, guys. I tried out the folders after watching, and they were very easy to do. I really like galley 2.0--nothing superfluous, all very useful, practical changes. One of dA's best updates yet!

Man, I've barely had any activity on the site for a week and I'm suddenly a total fangirl again.
