The Train of Appreciation
With the holidays coming up and only two days left until Thanksgiving for us North Americans, DeviantArt anticipates a cascade of good will and celebration in the form of contests, gifts, and writing. So, to get into the flow of the holidays, why not spread some love to the friends youve made on dA? Warm a few hearts, rouse a smile or two, and read about what you can do below.
The Challenge
Every once in a while, there a letter comes with a present, and that note warms your heart more than the gift itself. With this project, I hope to spur the same reaction. Before the due date of January 1st, choose one or more dA friend, and write them a note about what they, or their work, have meant to you during your time in this community. Explain what theyve done to inspire you, how you feel about their work, and how you feel about them. You may be surprised by what an affect it has on them. If youre a good friend, or just an admirer, send a genuine letter and I guarantee a cheesy, bubbly feeling on both sides.
Let Me Know
I would love it if youd copy and paste your appreciation message in a response to this news article, or just post a link to the person you sent it to. I want the good will to be so thick that I can barely trudge through it all.
Spread the Word
Plug this news article into your journal, or send it to your friends to spread the news! The holidays are about appreciating eachother, and better yet, reminding eachother that the world has a kind, generous side.
Why should we only send notes to other deviants?
You can always go out and tell your friends and family how you appreciate them, but when can you talk to artists, like yourself, and tell them straight-out what theyve meant to you? This is a time to show DeviantArt that you can reach out to strangers, to online acquaintances and friends, and spread the holiday spirit from behind your computer. Its also an opportunity to tell your dA friends how much they mean to you.
Important: The Noting System
Theres been some trouble with the noting system lately, but the dA crew is doing their best to fix this as soon as possible. Until then, you can still note people by clicking on your messages, going to the link to your notes, and filling in the recipient box with the username of the deviant you are noting. Remember to fill in all the boxes correctly. If you do not get a response, it may be due to another glitch in the system.

End Date
January 1st New Years Day
I want people to have enough time to see this article and send their notes out, and this closing date gives you enough time to send your love to all the people you need to. Enjoy! Extra points for flattering the recipient!
