Weekly Help Desk Updates - Thanksgiving Edition (Now with more gobble gobble)

Introduction

Welcome to the weekly Help Desk news. In these weekly updates we will attempt to bring you the most up to date information, as well as provide some helpful hints for super duper deviantART fun.

Closure Dates

The Help Desk will be closed November 22nd and 23rd for the Thanksgiving Holiday. Should you have an emergency during this time that is not Policy related, please contact help@deviantart.com and we will be happy to assist you.

Notes Recap

Please be advised that in order to fight the spam many of you have unfortunately been receiving we are currently making changes to how the notes system works.

While we make these changes you may notice some errors within the notes system, please be advised that we're working on each issue as it arises and we hope to have the new system perfected shortly.

We apologize for any inconvenience that these changes may cause and advise that no further reports are needed to the Help Desk.

Q&A --

Q: How do I send a note to someone that has not sent me a note before?

A: To do this you would need to go to your notes folder by clicking on your messages link located next to your username. Once in your messages click on the tab 'notes' and you will be presented with the option to send a note to someone. Simply fill in the recipient field and subject along with your message and you are ready to send a note to someone who has never noted you prior.

Q: Where did the 'Send a Note' button on userpages go to?

A: This is one of the changes to help fight against spam that were made while we work on the notes system. Do not worry this change is not forever and will return once the notes system changes are finalized.

Q: I received a note from a friend and replied to it but it never made it to them.

A: Please make sure you have filed out the recipient field and that you have added your friends username minus any status symbols. If you have done all of this and your note was still not received, please file a Help Desk inquiry.

Missing News Articles

We had an unfortunate accident the other day concerning some news articles. In an effort to clean up a page and a half of spam submitted by a user we accidentally purged some articles that were not spam along with the offending articles. We deeply apologize for this and will make certain such an accident never happens again.






Avatar & Lit. Tag Issues

Users are reporting difficulty in uploading new avatars and Lit. tags or getting them to stick once uploaded.

Developers have been alerted and we hope to have this issue resolved soon.

Gallery v2 Issues

1.) Pressing the back button in your browser takes you a little too far back. The same applies in edit mode. Fixed

2.) There is no longer a way to look up a users Daily Deviations.

3.) Users of Safari 3.0.3 report being unable to view galleries. Please upgrade to version 3.0.4, as we have been informed the previous version is a beta release.

4.) When changing the order around in edit mode the changes will not be saved once you hit done. If you do not see the changes right away, please refresh the page.

5.) Some users report that the thumbnails in IE look a tad bigger than they do in Firefox.

6.) Some report the search within the Gallery will display the proper results for a moment but then re-display all.

7.) Some users report blank galleries despite which browser they use. If you are one of the users affected by this issue, please file a Help Desk inquiry.

8.) Please also be advised if you use admuncher, galleries can also appear blank. (Note: this is not related in anyway to issue 7 above, that is totally different and we're not saying 7 is related to this either)

.GIF Submission Issues

Users report not being able to upload .GIF submissions to certain galleries.

Developers have been alerted and we hope to have this issue resolved soon.

Weekly Tip

Did you know that you can send notes directly to users by clicking on the notes tab, located in your message centre? Well you can! Once in the notes tab simply fill in the recipient field with your friends username (minus any status symbols), next fill in your subject and message click send and you are done!
