We've featured 65 poems since we opened our satellite account in 2007! Another one of the poems we featured received a DD before we had a chance to post it, so we posted two features this week. View the most recent feature here, as well a list of all the previous poems featured by TFP. If you like what you see, than devwatch the account because we feature a new one every week! The Armchair Travel Competition

*salshep:iconsalshep: reports, November 22, 2007
:sun: Show Me Your Homeland :sun:

In the course of an unfortunately brief chat with =bewareofthesnowman this evening, I asked him to write me a poem about Wales so I could see it through his eyes.

It occurred to me then that there are so many places in the world I've never been, as I've always been too poor or too busy to travel, and got the idea to ask you guys to help me see where it is that YOU live!

I'd love to be able to see it through your eyes, to sense and experience something unique about your homeland.

Will you show it to me? I'd love to be an armchair traveller. :)

:sun: How To Enter :sun:

:bulletpurple: Note me a link to a poem or piece of short prose specifically about the place where you live.

-- Make sure to put either PROSE or POETRY in the subject line!

:bulletpurple: I'd like to experience it as if I was there. I'll be judging this on how well your writing evokes a sense of your homeland, so make sure to really capture something of its essence.

:sun: Guidelines :sun:

PROSE: 1500 words or less.

POETRY: 1500 words or less.

:bulletpurple: DEADLINE: January 25 :bulletpurple:

:sun: Prizes :sun:

Sorry, I can only afford to offer prizes for first place in both prose and poetry.

 Any prize donations will be gratefully recieved!

Best each of prose AND poetry win:

:bulletpurple: a 3-month subscription each
:bulletpurple: a 3-month feature in my journal shoutbox.

Good luck! :)

I'd love to do that, unfortunately my city has nothing especially captivating or vibrant I could translate in paper :p

I still want to see it though! =P

It doesn't have to be about beauty. Just a snapshot in words, about your home. :)

(go on, don't be lazy, you)

Really sounds great, but I don't know yet If i'll join.
*salshep:iconsalshep: Nov 22, 2007, 9:16:37 AM
Then write about how boring it is. =P

As long as it's evocative of your home-- it doesn't have to be about an exciting place. :)
