OK, this is my Tribute to Gods contest hehe
Persephone, Echo, Arakhne and Psyche have been some of my favorit Greek 'myth' women and i have wanted to do a large pice that blends them and there stories (story detail below) for some time now but i keep hitting a block when it comes to how i want them to look. soooooo.....
i decided to hold a contests of sorts for stock!!!


yup if you have Stock shots and think you have a pose that fits you could win!!


ok ok so truthfuly i am just being lazy and don't want to have to filter threw all the hundreds of stock art on deviant. hehe but can you blame me? there is ALOT!!

i want to use the upcoming holiday season as time to work on it so the deadline is SUNDAY DECEMBER 16TH gives me time to pick myfaves before Christmas.

~Prizes.
-The grand winner for each goddess will recive an original of her respective goddess art (full coloerd backgroundless) and a copy of the compleat pice.

-All stock used will be credited apropretly

~Details
-There will be a grand winner for each goddess, who's stock i will use as a model for the art.
-All my work is traditonal art so the finished pice will take some time and will not be photo miniplution.

~Ruels
-Take a stock pic new or old, that you think is a good pose for one of the 4 goddess Persephone, Echo, Arakhne and Psyche , (story details below)
-Send me a note with the subject "contest (name of goddess)" and a link to the pic you wish to enter.
-You may enter for more then one of the goddess' but please only one pic per person for each goddess'.



Story details
~Persephone
Once upon a time when she was playing in a flowery meadow with her Nymph companions, Persephone was seized by Haides and carried off to the underworld as his bride. Her mother Demeter despaired at her dissappearance and searched for her the throughout the world accompanied by the goddess Hekate bearing torches. When she learned that Zeus had conspired in her daughter's abduction she was furious, and refused to let the earth fruit until Persephone was returned. Zeus consented, but because the girl had tasted of the food of Haides--a handful of pomegranate seeds--she was forced to forever spend a part of the year with her husband in the underworld. Her annual return to the earth in spring was marked by the flowering of the meadows and the sudden growth of the new grain. Her return to the underworld in winter, conversely, saw the dying down of plants and the halting of growth.


~ARAKHNE
(or Arachne) was an arrogant girl from the Greek town of Kolophon in Lydia who once dared challenge the goddess Athena to a contest in weaving. In the match Athena portrayed the gods seated in glory upon high thrones, while Arakhne represented them in the guise of animals chasing after mortal girls. Athena was furious at her impiety and beat the girl with her shuttle, driving Arakhne to hang herself in despair. The goddess then took some pity on the girl and transformed her into a spider to let her live her life out as a weaver people would feer yet admire.


~EKHO
(or Echo) was an Oreiad nymph of Mount Kithairon in Boiotia. The goddess Hera cursed her with the voice of the echo( to only repeat the last words of what was said before) as punishment for distracting her with chatter. She was loved by the god Pan, Yet she herself became enamoured of the boy Narcissus. When the youth spurned her advances for his own reflection she faded away, leaving only her echoing voice behind.


~PSYKHE
(or Psyche)
was once a mortal princess whose astounding beauty earned the ire of Aphrodite when men turned their worship from goddess to girl. Aphrodite commanded Eros make Psykhe fall in love with the most hideous of men, but the god himself fell in love with her and carried her away to his secret palace. However Eros hid his true identity, and commanded her never to look upon his face. Psykhe was eventually tricked by her jealous sisters into gazing upon the face of god, and he abandoned her. In her despair, she searched throughout the world for her lost love, and eventually came into the service of Aphrodite. The goddess commanded her perform a series of difficult labours which culminated in a journey to the Underworld. In the end Psykhe was reunited with Eros and the couple wed in a ceremony attended by the gods.
