Vexelicious: The Features #15

^Jules1983:iconJules1983: reports, 2d 12h ago
This is the fifteenth Vexelicious feature article. As the name suggests, this article will be all about vexels. It is divided into three parts: DD's given in May and April, Vexels uploaded in May and April, and Themed Vexels.

What a Vexel Is: The Official dA Definition

^Jules1983:iconJules1983: reports, July 7
Influenced by recent dispute, it has been decided that it is time to make a solidified definition of what a vexel is by deviantART's terms. Please understand that this definition, and the rules along with it, are not made up from a few of the gallery moderator's thoughts, but built from the foundation of what the creator's words on 'vexel' were, and what the majority of the vexel community of deviantART has come to accept as a vexel. These rules are solid, final, and most-likely will not be faltered.

Litmas is here!

^StJoan:iconStJoan: reports, November 25, 2007
Litmas is here!

This year Litmas is having FOUR separate contests!
Yes, you heard right! And that’s just the start! Stay tuned for events in the official AR channel #dAmnLit!

But right now- let’s work on the booty!

Prose:
:bulletred: Christmas Prose:
The word count max is 3000 words and must be Christmas themed! Simple as that!
MUST be a NEW deviation
Judges: ^GunShyMartyr
Deadline: Dec 25th at Midnight
Prizes
First place: 1 devWear Hoody, or 1 year sub.
Second place: 1 devWear shirt, or 6 month sub.
Third place: 3 month sub.

*******

:bulletred: Winter Flash!
What’s this? Lit has a new category and it’s Flash Fiction! That means a max of 600 words! This year we’re going to kick it off with a winter themed flash piece.
MUST be a NEW deviation
Judges: ^GunShyMartyr and ^StJoan
Deadline: Dec 25th at Midnight
Prizes:
First place: 1 devWear shirt, or 6 month sub.
Second place: 3 month sub.
Third place: 1 month sub.

*******

Poetry!
:bulletred: Your Holiday Landscape
Write a fixed form poem that details/expresses your local culture/landscape's traditions during high holidays. Reflect on your own personal experiences or observe other's.
There are no line limits, though it is required that in the artist's comments you take the time to identify your chosen form. We will only accept those that can be documented in literature-- please no personal inventions at this time. MUST be a NEW deviation
Judges: ^PoeticWar and ^StJoan
Deadline: Dec 25th
Prizes:
First place: 1 devWear Hoody, or 1 year sub.
Second place: 1 devWear shirt, or 6 month sub.
Third place: 3 month sub.

*******

And finally the Cross Genre Contest:
Letters to Santa
I want you to write a letter to Santa Claus. You don't have to believe in Santa Claus, be a Christian, or even celebrate the holidays to know that "Santa" represents something a little different to each of us (and nothing at all to some of us). The letter doesn't have to be "cheesy" or strive for something deep (unless you want it to); it can be silly, tongue-in-cheek, angry, or humorous, a commentary on the state of holidays in general or a statement about religion, faith, commercialism, and/or anything else you feel compelled to talk about this holiday season. The subject matter is entirely up to you.
All it has to be is a letter to Santa.
You can include poetry. You can write it as straight prose. You can make it very formal or you can write in slang or dialect and make it personal in that regard. It can be real; it can be fake. It can include your Christmas List. However, it must be a letter (which includes a salutation and a closing line).
Rules:
1. It must be a letter (including a salutation and closing line);
2. Your letter must be a new deviation or scrap uploaded to your gallery;
3. Prose entries cannot be shorter than 100 words or longer than 3,000 words;
4. Poetry entries must include at least two lines but cannot have more than 40;
5. Visual entries must be clear enough and large enough to be read on full-view;
6. Letters should comply with dA submission policies and standards;
7. Your entry does not have to be written in English.

I want you to write a letter to Santa.

I'm not writing a letter to Santa.

I didn't like the way he replied to
the letter I sent him last year. :no:

Dear AJ,

I received your letter.
I hope that you are feeling better.

I have your list and checked it twice.
Your mom is great, her boobs are nice.

I understand that you like toys.
But I don't believe in little boys.

Sincerely,

              Ho Ho Ho!
