Read This Magazine is a not-for-profit literary magazine based in Edinburgh, Scotland - UNESCO's World City of Literature. It aims to act as a platform for new, young and emerging writers from across the world.

We want Read This Issue III - our first issue of 2008 - to be packed with the best "emerging" literature on offer. So we're running a contest to encourage as many submissions as possible!

Because Issue III will see in a brand new year, the theme of the contest will be A New Start. It doesn't necessarily have to be about a new year; it can be about absolutely anything, as long as it does fit within that theme.

RULES

- Poetry AND prose pieces welcomed. Deviants may enter up to four pieces.

- Poems should fit reasonably onto ONE SIDE of A4 (per poem). Prose pieces should fit reasonably within THREE SIDES of A4 (per piece).

- All pieces must fit the theme of A New Start.

- Pieces must be sent via email to submissions@readthismagazine.co.uk, with the words 'contest entry' somewhere in the subject line.

- Pieces may be attached to the email and/or copied and pasted into the email itself.

- CLOSING DATE: 1OTH DECEMBER 2007

PRIZES

- FIRST PRIZE (poetry) Publication in Read This III and a feature on the Read This website at [link] , plus two free issues of Read This III and a 6-month free subscription to Read This.
- FIRST PRIZE (prose) - as above.

- RUNNER UP (poetry) Publication in Read This III and two free issues of the magazine
- RUNNER UP (prose) - as above.

Any HIGHLY COMMENDED entries will be published on the Read This website at [link]
