This perplexes me, as I see other accounts without a single deviation or a journal entry, but with 10,000+ pageviews and comments / watchers.

B) Pageviews and comments are not the thing that makes a person a good artist and if popularity is your focus MySpace may be the place for you.
C) Best way to become a part of the community is to add to it by getting to know others and participate in things. Find art you like comment on it, get to know people.

And comments just for the sake of comments are stupid. At least ask for help on improving your work if you have to write an "all about me" news article. Even if you happen to have very good art, and it's just bad luck so far, no one is so good so they can't get better.
and FAQ #711: Can I remove or edit a news article I have submitted?
this stunt will only make people despise you... the news isnt a forum for crying about the number of pvs you have. impress people by visiting their page, commenting, getting involved... it takes effort to get noticed. ESPECIALLY on a site so vast and full of very competitive artists.
