Fool has joined dA!
A long time ago on forums, I started seeing wonderful smilies, full of humour, gentleness and a delightful simplicity of style. I used to collect them and add them to a special smilie folder. Smilies started to become a passion for me and I used to seek out different artists and their work. One day I finally found my favourite smilie artists site
it was Fool. Here is his amazing collection of smilies. I bet there will be a few you will recognize as he, with his immense generosity, gave of them freely to whoever wanted to use them.

It was a tutorial by Fool which taught me how to create emotes and how to animate them. This is what first brought me to dA in order to share my work with everyone.
In another section of his site I found a few pieces of amazing PixelArt and fell in love with it. I would visit his site regularly hoping for new additions to his list of wonderful PixelArt. It was through the links Fool had on his site, I discovered the world of PixelArt.
As soon as I became Gallery Director here, I was hoping one day Fool would join dA and show us and the world his lovely PixelArt. That day has come; Fool has joined us and is sharing some of his wonderful work in his Gallery.
Fool was born in Moscow Russia and since 1990 has lived in Cleveland, Ohio. He is by profession a violin maker/luthier. It was through a car accident, which laid him up for some time that he began to create PixelArt and it has now become a major part of his life.
Here is a small selection of his work, please visit his Gallery to see more.

These pieces need to be downloaded for the full view or for the animation.
Fanart
PixelArt will no longer be the place for anything Fanart. For a long time PixelArt has been a place where there were ripped and spliced sprites. In order to stop this, all Fanart from now on will be moved to the Fanart Gallery under Fanart>DigitalArt>Drawing>(end category). This will not be retrospective so you don't need to move your existing work out of PixelArt Galleries.
Before people suggest a PixelArt section under Fanart, or a Fanart section under PixelArt, no at this time there will be no new categories added.
Currently the Fanart Gallery does not support GIF images, this means that any Fanart related animations or GIF images will need to be stored in the deviants Scraps section until this is sorted out. I apologize for the disruption this is going to cause a few folk.

Doll Gallery
The Doll Gallery is just a real joy, there is some wonderful work happening there and the bases continue to expand with some very lovely new pieces to temp Dollers with new work.
How about when the Dollers are on the Doll forums we encourage those Dollers not already members, to join dA and show off their work. I am sure there are a lot of Dollers who don't realize how good dA has become for displaying their Doll work.

If you're going to get all kissy, at least have the decency to get into a broom closet first.
The next step along is to take two ripped sprites and take parts of one ripped sprite and add it to another to make what is known as a spliced sprite....there are also folks who take the ripped sprite and recolour them by computer generation.
Then there are folks who use the line art only and carefully colour them in or draw them free hand. These last couple are not so bad but impossible to know if that is how they were created.
So the easiest way for PixelArt to shrug off its very bad reputation at dA for just being a site of 'ripped' sprites is to say all fanart into the Fanart Gallery...which breaks my heart as there are some truly awesome artists with wonderful work which I will lose from PixelArt. Hopefully we will be able to attract more PixelArtists who will be able to fill the void...case in point, Fool.

You need a software art program like msPaint or Photoshop, whatever. Then using only the pencil tool you set it on one pixel in size and create a picture under high magnification....
Here is a WIP of a piece I made [link] this took me about 30 - 40 hours but I am slow and a bit anal! Here is a magnified picture...you need to work under very high magnification to create it....minimum 6-800% although the bigger the better...[link]
So not hard just a lot of patience.
