Tempest Storm, Still going strong at 80

^Ghouldaddy:iconGhouldaddy: reports, July 15
Tempest Storm, on of the premier pin up models and burlesque dancers of the 1940's, 50's and 60's is still going strong at 80 years of age. The star of such films as Russ Meyer's French Peep Show (1950), Paris After Midnight (1951), Striptease Girl (1952), Irving Klaw's Teaserama, (1955) (which also featured Bettie Page!!!) is still performing burlesque striptease in Las Vegas proving that despite your age, a classy broad is still a classy broad!

Let's make a prediction daily deviation choices...

~Pedigri:iconPedigri: reports, August 26
Is there a way to predict what kinds of daily deviations will be chosen mostly on a particular time of the year? The recent "typographic art" boom where nearly every day brought a daily deviation in the category "typograhic art" made it clear to me that there is something behind it and it was obvious what it is exactly...

Do you want to know what determinates one's sense of aethetics, so you can predict what artworks will have the greatest chance to be chosen as Daily Deviations and what daily deviations suggestions are going to be most likely successful? Then read on.

The Forum Newsletter No. 13

`conorschild:iconconorschild: reports, December 2, 2007
Hello once again and welcome to the destruction of human achievement that is officially dA's unofficial newsletter of it's forums.

Apologies this month, as there is no forum interview - I've really had too much to do. Possibly, I might get someone to help me out in future editions but it wasn't something I thought of until it was too late :P

Let's get on with the show! :ohnoes:

:xmas: The Forum News

:bulletred: The forums get communal

Several forum clubs have been set up recently, in an effort to increase the community feel (read: elitism) of the forums.

So far, we have *DAPoliticalForum, *DAComplaintsforum, *DAReligiousForum and ~DAMusicForum.

All, except the last, were founded by *SwordOfScotland who now along with the excellent *DAPF-SOURCE-LIBRARY runs at least 4 clubs with a team of dedicated assistants, and well done for it :)

Of course, the most interesting part of that (to my mind anyway) is..

:bulletred: The Religious Forum

Well for a couple of months people have been actively trying to get a Religious forum added onto the forum listings.

I think eventually forumers realised that actually, the dA staff's primary concern is not with the forums. However, a genius solution was reached: [link]

Until the staff remembers about the forums, this is the best we've got :P My advice would be to keep it going, keep it active, most importantly keep it civil and perhaps we'll have an official one someday.

:bulletred: dA Forum Rules of Engagement

Keeping his tyrannical hold over the Newsletter, *SwordOfScotland posted his Suggested DA Forum Rules of Engagement.

Of course, these are not official but I think a lot of the points raised and made are very good. I'm hoping that a lot of a certain breed of posters will check this out and take something away from it.

:bulletred: n00b IDOL 2007

Yep, @VernonX9000 is back with n00b IDOL this year.

The nominations round - [link] is over now, I believe, but keep your eyes peeled for the second round.

:bulletred: Forum Newsletter Awards

And in relation, the nominations for the Newsletter Awards has ended. I'll post the nominees shortly after this article. Make sure to get your votes in!

:xmas: Forum Lessons!
:iconprimouse: Titling your threads!

Especially in the cesspool that is the Complaints forum, there's a lot of dead horses. And when regulars come in, outraged at the concept of more than two threads on one subject and riled up with elitism, the excuse is often "I didn't know there was another thread!"

Which is often viewed with disgust. Because as I'm sure you are aware, when they make a complaint, they check every other thread.

Okay, fact is most posters won't bother to read other threads. So how are they expected to know about the other thread? The title.

Your title should outline what your complaint is. Okay, keep it a little ambiguous - you want to draw people in to read it. But recently, there's been a few threads about the teddy bear named Mohammed, and fact is, only one of those threads actually mentioned 'teddy bear' or 'Muslims' or 'Mohammed' in their title.

Cut down on repeated threads yourself - give a good title so that people will know what your thread is about - and avoid the repetition of them.

:xmas: Best of the Forums

:holly: Threads

:bulletred: Desktop Screenshot - He has a new friend, and it's called PrtSc

:bulletblue: Crazy Bus Drivers - a tale of INTRIGUE and SUSPENSE

:bulletred: The Proliferation of Callout Threads - I hope some people take this to heart.

:bulletblue: Comment on the above poster's devIcon - This gets interesting about halfway through

:bulletred: 2008 cracked softwares download - YAY KITTIES

:bulletblue: You just got a text! - BEEPBEEP

:bulletred: [=NoodleDoodler] wants to fight ! - C'mon, battle!

:bulletpurple: (~alternatis: I had to kick my desk in the crotch upon reading this.)

And then I say "Your desk has a crotch? :fear:" and then you make a suggestive statement that to you, all inanimate objects have crotches, and then some idiot will go "Hur hur because ~alternatis likes buttsex!" and there will be a lengthy exchange between the two of you about this long-dead, not really funny joke, and then the Complaints forum is polluted once again.

Cake/Pie:

Pie saw Cake on the kitchen table and Cake looked back with an alluring smile. Suddenly they could no longer resist each other and Pie jumped out of his tin container and ripped off Cake's outer packaging, running his crust over her soft icing.
He embraced her with his masculine, sinewy presence, and her sweet body seemed to melt against him. Pie took cake gently but firmly, squelching down inside Cake, making her gasp and moan. All too soon, Pie hardened, his steak buried deep inside her. Gravy flowed copiously.

And finally, Obvious statement of the month:

Forum admins are more concerned with protecting the forums than the rights of the paying subscribers.

from [link] with props to ~seinin and [link] for pointing it out

:xmas:And finally...

Next month, I've got exams, coursework and of course Christmas to deal with. As such, I'm handing the newsletter over to the capable hands of *DarkApple for December. I'm sure he'll do a great job :) But remember, go check his page for the newsletter (or the sticky in Deviants) and note him with good comments/threads.

But, I'll still be running the Forum Newsletter Awards! Read the article on that when I post it shortly, and remember to vote :aww:

So remember, note *DarkApple with comments/threads/comment chains (although if you have any ideas/suggestions, you can still send them to me :aww:)

Oh, and Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone
