TranslationChain Update: December

~TranslationChain:iconTranslationChain: reports, Dec 3, 2007
 TRANSLATION CHAINS 2, 3 and 4 are GO!

Chains 2 and 3 are underway, and promise to be as fascinating as the first. We have Afrikaans and Hebrew added to the list of languages, which is wonderful. Keep an eye on the main account for progress updates on Chain 3.

Results will be published in a news just before Christmas.

:sun: Join Us In a Game of International Tag!

Translation Chain 4 is open for anyone to join in, in any language. If you can't see a language you know right away, check back in a day or so!

:star: Translate a translation!

From Hungarian to Swahili, Russian to English, whatever languages you know, you're welcome to add to the Chain by translating any of the replies to Chain 4!

:star: Please keep all other comments to the special comments deviation provided (there’s a link in the comments box). Any comments that are not translations will be hidden.

:bulletblue::bulletpurple: What is TranslationChain?

The Translation Chain is a fun experiment in observing the way a piece of writing undergoes changes during many translations.

Each month a new piece of literature will be translated from one language to another through a "chain" of people, with the results being announced in a news report.

The aim of this project is to help deviants from around the world get to know each other, as well as encouraging greater interest in language and writing.

Read this for more information!

:bulletblue::bulletpurple: Is this a club? How do I join?

TranslationChain is not a club, but a project. If you want to join in, simply send us a note stating what languages you are fluent in, and we'll add you to the list of available translators.

:bulletblue::bulletpurple: Do I have to be great at translation?

At least a basic level of fluency is required, and there will be events for all skill levels throughout the year.

:bulletblue::bulletpurple: How often do these occur?

We plan to run at least one translation event every month.

This sounds so cool...unfortunatly, I am not fluent in any language yet I know the basics of Japanese and Spanish so I could survive. I'm learning Spanish at school and selfteaching myself Japanese but I guess I'm at too low of a level to help out with this T_T Oh well, have fun guys! And if there is anything that you'd like me to do, I'd be glad to help out^^
