I'm not very newsy but I'll do my best.
There's a trend for altering books around on the internet. Some are done to reflect themes, such as what the story is about, or "water", "language" etc, others are created randomly.
Some people hate the idea of destroying books to create art, but in the end, often old or discarded books end up in landfill, or rotting somewhere. Why not create art out of them?

I'm not entirely sure whether this art style is well known on DeviantArt, and I don't think I've seen any altered books while lurking around here.
I did an altered book for an art project and I found it great fun, so I'd like to see if the wider community on DA would be interested.

Now, what I have is a book I found on someone's nature strip.

I'd like to send this around to willing participants, whether in my home town, Australia, or even the world. The task is just to contribute to the book with your artwork.
If you'd like, you can suggest a theme for the book, but I personally think it would be better if the book were open ended and had no theme.

It would be even better to send around multiple books, starting in different places and then have them converge. It'd be interesting to see what resulted.
