Meet

, who's photographic exploits are amongst the best I've seen for imagination, close up detail, ethereal qualities, colour - you name it, it has great appeal and is often very unusual. I particularly love the attention to water drops on natural plant-life, and the reflections that can so often be seen in them. I dubbed his work "Light Fantastic" because it's the lighting that brings out all these minute details and effects.
Here's a short Biography from Callu.
As far as I remember none of my family was an artist. My mother used to have some musical informal activity. She has got a beautiful voice. But there is no other artistic influence from within my family so far as I'm aware.
Ive been doing photography seriously for about two years now. My son is a very good programmer (computers) and one of the topics we talked about was images as a major component of human way of gathering information. At a moment he bought himself a camera (the one Im still using) and we had a more concrete object of our mutual interest. I have a scarce experience in painting (as a hobby). I taught him some things about minimal knowledge on the topic. Being a really serious person, my son read a lot of books about photography etc. He came with details I had never imagined before. In order to have a common topic to discuss about I started shooting ... Thats how my photography started, and I have no formal training in it at all!
Im a teacher and I have a very busy programme!
Besides gardening, which Im very fond of, I like to work with colors and light.
In front of the screen and listening to my favorite music, I discovered a very complex universe, a real escape from the boring and insignificant present. I have shipwrecked on my favorite island!
Influences and Preferences
Mainly my influences come from my hobbies which are music, literature of a good quality, classical paintings and sculpture, also history.
I like, or better love, pictures that reveal hidden treasures of light or the secret micro universe. Doing this I feel as though Im on a constant journey of discovery.
The greatest thing to inspire me is good daylight!!
Techniques
I use my Canon PowerShot A95 and accidentally a NIKON D50. I always work my pictures in Adobe Photoshop , last version (2006) I have never used lenses or filters of any kind.
Three Favourites

Calm 1. This picture I love because quite by accident, I think Ive caught a special light in the eye of the bird. This suggested to me the title. It reminds me of my childhood, when I used to have a few pigeons. I remember the smell of their feathers, the calm summer mornings when I used to watch them fly. The tones in the picture go well with the subject. The geometrical structures around give a contrast to the organic curves of the bird. But most of all, I like the lighting! Its not aggressive, it doesnt want to reveal a mere ordinary moment in life, but something more...

Days Stars Blue. This picture was quite a surprise. I shot around 50 on the same subject. When I watched them each on the computer, I was astonished. I think this was the moment I discovered the beauty of a great combination: water and light! It doesnt mean anything. Its just what it is a happy moment of light inspiration. Luckily I was there!

Clear Cut Light. The main reason I mention this picture is that most of the people liked it so much! If I have accepted to make public my hobby I must admit I do care about it too.
I hope to diversify my hobby more in the future, and to continue to develop it.
A Small Selection of my favourites from Callu's Gallery

I have carried out a series of interviews, and hope to continue to do so. If you have never seen any of the previous ones, please click HERE and you will see links to all of them listed in my journal. (Some were carried out with `DWALKER1047 also before she became unwell).
Here is a stamp for anyone who has been interviewed by me to use on their journal or shoutboard if desired (this will help spread the word that you have been interviewed here at dA)...

Or if interviewed by both of us...

One last message from *AnnaKirsten... Please, if you haven't already read about the plight of Maria Kisilenko (featured on my journal), could I ask that you take a look at *LuvEnder's journal to see how you might be able to help? She is auctioning some of her pictures in support of Maria's badly needed costs for treatment to save her from an otherwise inevitable, very painful, death. There are other ways in which help can be given too - ask *LuvEnder and she will tell you what you could do if you'd like to take part in some other way.
