[link] Decoy Purse
"One purse was found just sitting on a display shelf in the shoe department at Macys. Another one turned up downstairs, in Macys Cellar. Yet another rested on a chair in a Midtown McDonalds, left by a woman who had stepped into the restroom. In fact, all three items had been planted by police officers in plainclothes during the previous six weeks. And the three people who picked them up were arrested, and now face indictment on charges that could land them in state prison."

The girl was arrested after she allegedly showed up at a party at the home of one of the boys, where the assaults allegedly occurred. The girl, whose identity is being withheld because of her age, was booked with three counts of aggravated rape and five counts of indecent behavior with a juvenile.
[link] The Black Ku Klux Klan (in America!)
Well, when shots are fired and a black man hits the pavement, there's every statistical reason to believe another black man pulled the trigger. That's not some negative, unfair stereotype. It's a reality we've been living with, tolerating and rationalizing for far too long.
When the traditional, white KKK lynched, terrorized and intimidated black folks at a slower rate than its modern-day dark-skinned replacement, at least we had the good sense to be outraged and in no mood to contemplate rationalizations or be fooled by distractions.

Someone who loved Sean Taylor is crying right now. The life they knew has been destroyed, an 18-month-old baby lost her father, and, if you're a black man living in America, you've been reminded once again that your life is in constant jeopardy of violent death.
Cousulate-General's Personal Commentary
The Political Theory of Daily Life
"What were once seen as among the primary forms of human excellence, or virtues - duty, patriotism, self-sacrifice - are now seen as ways of living that might be borne by unfortunate sops.
Our meritocratic age has no space for such animating virtues: our motivations are now success (defined materially and financially) and self-fulfillment. And, I am not for an instant blaming the students: they "take their cues" - they are educated to value certain things over other things - by their elders and the broader culture.."
[link] Stranger in a Strange Land.
What was once seen as the virues of a nation are now seen as the mantle of the weak and antiquated. The thought of separateness from, and superiority over, or inferiority under, our fellow human beings; it is this thought alone, this delusion, has laid the ground for all the horror in our history. This will become the legacy of humankind unless we come to know the greatness of self-sacrifice, duty to our nation, responsibility to our communities, and the need to reach out and help others less fortunate.

Voters reject Chavez's referendums
Chavez once again has tried to perpetuate himself in power, in government, now the votes in Venezuela has been casted... And the voice has been heard, now you go and talk about it and say what you think, democracy must prevail, and love should rise from everything, even politics.

The new elected Governor of Buenos Aires city presented his staff and claims he has been target of a dirty campaign, and he will remain clean of all politics and stay true to the people.
Personal National/Local Commentary
Today has been a special day, in the park next to the Pink House (same as the white house) (Casa Rosada in Spanish) there has been a giant wheelchair, a statement for handicapped people, and their rights! I'm sure that voice should be heard, and symbols should be seen, but the most important is to understand the mind behind the person, and appreciate their soul. We are all equal, not just under the eyes of the law, but under love, compassion, and care.

[link] Hospital death-rate report triggers call for action.
Calling the public release of Ontario hospital death rates "revolutionary," Health Minister George Smitherman said the province is contacting hospitals with poor scores to see what can be done to better protect patients.
"Those hospitals that have not been seen to perform well will feel under the most intense pressure to take remedial action," Smitherman said. "The pressure will come from transparency."

The trial of Robert "Willie'' Pickton is all done
National/Local Commentary
In a report never before seen in Ontario, the death rates in Ontario hospitals have now been released to the general public. If indeed this is not to be a "consumer tool" as a CIHI representative said, why does the public need to know these numbers? I'm certainly a bit nervous now that my hospital had more than 100 deaths.

Well, beyond that, we've got serial killer Robert Pickton's case going to the jury, Schreiber's inquiry underway and record cold in Canada this winter. Happy Holidays, Canada!

[link] If I forget thee Jerusalem, you can forget about us!
A few members of the group of American Jewish leaders who came to meet Prime Minister Ehud Olmert on Tuesday, a few hours after he finished his duties at Annapolis, were dissatisfied with his speech. Why did Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas mention Jerusalem and you did not, one asked. The absence, of course, was not by chance. Olmert and President George Bush tried to bypass the problematic core issues of the conflict. "We say, 'If we forget thee Jerusalem,' but we try not to mention it," one top Israeli official said.
Israeli Ambassador's Personal Commentary:
Nobody knows what the post-Annapolis conference future holds. But one of Israels most fundamental demands is Palestinian recognition of Israel as a Jewish state. The Jewish people have a right to self-determination in their ancient homeland the only state in the world with a Jewish majority. That right is recognized implicitly for every nation on Earth, and should not be denied to the Jewish nation. Neither Jerusalem nor Gaza should be on the negotiating table this meeting. First let us ensure safety and stability from the other side before we begin to carve up our nation like a roast to be fed unto the hounds.
Let us all pray for peace and safety soon.
Happy Channukah!

Recent proofs reveal that Former President Fox concealed the overspending of his wife Marta Sahagún during his government. President vs Prime Minister
A serious conflict between the two is starting to take place. The point of it being
an effort to make the president play a "decorational" role. Indeed, some of the recent decisions of the government weren't consulted with the president.
The most important of them are shown on this list:

Moving the Polish troops out of Iraq by the end of 2008

Verifying the usefulness of the Central Anticorruption Bureau

Canceling the "Yes" given by the previous government to the idea of buliding a missle defense system in Poland.

Renewing the political dialogue with Russia
Both sides want to gain control over the foreign policy. This can lead to a situation of diplomatic schizorfrenia.
Cuts in the budget
The government is planning to find over 4 billion zł (about 1,6 billion dollars) by cutting the wages of the state's civil servants. The money obtained this way will be used to increase the wages of the teachers and to decrease the budget deficit. Much controversy is connected with this issue since multiple departments want to increase their budgets in the upcoming year.
