Well, welcome to another edition of Mini-DDs! It's time for another gathering of amazing artwork, of course...But it looks like I have to start thinking about the special times coming up here.
Well, there's Christmas, of course, the most magical time of the year. And I'll naturally celebrate it here by featuring some great holiday-themed work, so look for that in two weeks!
But the biggest upcoming holiday to be celebrated here will be New Year's Eve. If you can actually recall, last year I celebrated the holiday by showcasing what I thought were
the fifty best Deviations of 2006. So not surprisingly, this year I plan to do the same...Except I'm planning to up the ante a bit more.
How? Well, you'll find out when the time comes. But for now, it's time to start thinking about what to feature...& this is where you can help! After all, sorting through a year's worth of artwork can be pretty hard work. So to help make the process a tad easier, I'd like to know:
What were your favorite Deviations of 2007?
Feel free to suggest anything to me. The number of faves doesn't matter, the artist's popularity doesn't matter, & what you suggest can even already have a Mini-DD or a real DD. Just as long as you think it was the best!
Of course, I can't guarantee that what you suggest will show up in the end-of-year special. Worst case scenario, I'll just count it as a suggestion for a regular Mini-DD...Just like with one of the pieces featured here this week, actually!
So feel free to suggest! I look forward to what you have to share...But until then, what say we get on with the main event already?
Okay, so if you don't know by now, the featured artists here each receive the Golden Fefcaine Award:
...My little prestigious token of appreciation for anyone who created some amazing, DD-worthy artwork. Plus it has a delicious milk chocolate center! And what say we mix in some graham cracker & cookie bits for this week?
Alright now, on with the show! Here's this week's Mini-DDs...

What's not to love about
Proxy by ~
pizzacat? It's cute, cheerful, nicely styled, & as one commenting Deviant put it perfectly, it's a great & unique design for a robot girl that just has the perfect blend of robotics & femininity to it all, making for one eye-pleasing & cute piece of work. Frankly, if you don't love this, then you have no soul. Plain & simple.
cool one front by ~
bruno83...The club he made this for may be closed (apparently), but that doesn't stop this from being one wicked poster design. Great colors, cool style, fun little characters, nice details, & perfect execution in every area right down to the layout. In fact, it's so cool (no pun intended), I'm tempted to think about getting a print of it...

*
DaKraken's numerous fandoms have resulted in her having a gallery full of some truly wicked fan art, which you should definitely check out. But in choosing just one piece to feature, I guess I'd have to go with
ZOMG JAWS- EDIT. It's nice & colorful, features a great style, is a bit unique (at least for fan art around here), & most importanly, it's just plain cool & funny. What else do you want?

~
jonrod pays perfect tribute to one of our great childhood games with
Escondido, a vibrant, cheerful, & fun piece of work showcasing a cool style, some funky little designs, & some unique twists (love the isometric view & the use of cubes). This is one of those drawings that I'm just really glad about getting printed in something professional...It deserves all the honors it can get.

...You know, it's a drawing like
Vive la poutine by ~
enjeru that just really makes me feel so damn proud to be Canadian. Not only is it a tribute to one of the greatest fast food dishes ever, but it does so with such a well-executed piece of work, thanks to some nice character designs, a cool color scheme, & a wicked & unique style. And man, is this making me hungry just looking at it...
Cankersaur by ~
pipibonbon is fun little drawings that ends up standing out thanks to all of the unique & cool touches it uses: The funky style, the wild & random colors, the little bursts of writing, & the innovative concept that blends together with everything to perfectly show just how damn annoying having a canker sore can be...Yet it does so in such a cute & attractive way. Bravo!
Cookie Lord of candyHell by ~
FrealaF...Well, it involves gingerbread men, flaming candy, & Hell. That combination alone would have made for one interesting Deviation, but thanks to a neat style, some nice brush work, a great mix of colors, & a deliciously twisted & surreal mood to it all, this painting easily becomes something much more eye-popping & memorable...
Pixel by ~
hoyhoykung...Because little tributes to classic video games + Nicely-drawn, beautiful women = Win. Nothing else needs to be said. Well, except for the parts about this having a cool, unique concept, an astounding mix of vibrant colors, a great amount of detail, a cool style, etc. Actually, there's a lot you can say about it, but all you really need to know is this: It rocks.
(Suggested by =Radioactive13)
If there's one thing I enjoy here at DA (among many other things), it's seeing a unique creature design captured in such a stunning way. And not surprisingly,
Lord of the Mire by ~
MorisMontana delivers in that area! As Radioactive13 said, this perfectly showcases the artist's interesting & smooth style, & it shows that a great amount of work was put into this, from the amazing colors to the great amount of detail (right down to the fur). It's just simply astounding overall...
...& that's all for this week! If you have any comments, suggestions, etc., they'd be greatly appreciated! I hope you've all liked what I've featured this week, & I'll be back next week with nine more DD-worthy works of art! Sayanora until then! ^_^
