Much like my previous
Rapunzel challenge, I've been encouraged to present you guys with a new challenge to get your gears a-going and to help me personally with a project I'm working on.
THE PROJECT To embody the times of the year in angelic forms and to somehow illustrate all the beauty and presence that might entail. I've already completed the
Angel of Autumn, if you'd like to get a feel for the project.
Spring
She is blossoming innocence and eternal youth oblivious to the coming of the other seasons. When I think of Spring, I think of golden hair, exuberance, light gowns of glittering gossamer, countless butterflies, lilies, lilacs, daisies, gladiolus flowers, flowing sheer chiffon of bright platinum and verdant green, and babbling brooks freshly thawed from winter's grasp.
Summer
She is boundless energy free from all restraint. When I think of Summer, I think of bright oranges, turquoise, and blues, windblown cloth, the wings of birds in flight, sparrows, finches, and cardinals, and verdant green.
Autumn
She is warm and giving and a nurturing buffer before the coldness of winter. When I think of Autumn, I think of modest maturity, Demeter, Hestia, garlands of orange leaves, brown robes, berries, and cornucopias full of food.
Winter
She is cold, endearing, and merciless. When I think of Winter, I think of an unyielding queen crowned by a wreath of black dead branches, garbed in winter furs, white leopard skins, and leathers. She is harsh, but fair and knowledgeable, for she is the end of all things. She is black, silver, brown, pale blue, and white.
THE CHALLENGE
I challenge you creative folks out there to create anything using any season you wish. One aim of this challenge is to garner inspiration as I work on my series of illustrations so I would love to use any stock you might make from this and would therefore prefer such stock to be used commercially as I intend to sell my seasonal angels at conventions and would be more than willing to credit any stockers who might be chosen for use. You are not required to work directly from the descriptions provided here, if you do not wish to.
But this isn't just a stock challenge, if these words inspire you to create your own images, do let me know so I can link to them from here. Inspiration begets inspiration.
On a sidenote, you also need not be female to participate. It would be such a pleasant change to see male embodiments of the seasons!
PRIZES
I cannot offer you much more than a feature in this journal, crediting in any images I may do using your stock, and my eternal gratitude. Mostly, this is for fun and for practice
I am also open to prize donations if anyone would like to offer some. I will choose four winners who best embody their chosen season. There will be four winners in each of these categories for a total of 12 winners:
Stock Images,
Artwork, and
Writing. This challenge is meant to stretch all levels of inspiration.
DEADLINES
You've got about 2 months to organize a stock shoot or create an image.
