(I cant believe I have already reached week 5 of Hotlits!)

Christmas is coming, and the contests entries are piling on in literature! The festivity of litmas is certainly the domination of current writings, but beyond that weve seen some great non-Christmas themed works this week. Some of them are pieces that provoke deep emotion or even spark discussion and thoughts, where others have left a smile.
Last weeks edition of HotLits was the most successful reaction I have had to an edition. It was nice to see that some readers even went to courtesy of providing constructive comments to the piece featured, and even more exciting one of the pieces from the feature has received a DD! Well done to *
ThelemaJ for her beautiful poem
Stasis. For those who have missed the issues so far, here is a list of the existing HotLit articles:
HotLits- the First!
HotLits- the Second!
HotLits- the Third!
HotLits- the Fourth!
This week, I have taken some of the feedback that was given in the last issue in hope of making HotLits even fierier! Let me know what you think!
Writing to make an impact is often something that is generally assumed to be a big and dramatic piece. However, you dont always need huge explosions, emotional sob stories or even something so random that the impact is just confusion. Making an impact to me means provoking a reaction. A reader wants to connect to the piece they have read, so that when theyve finished they have been left with an afterthought- whatever that thought is.
A few of the pieces that I have read this week have made an impact without that overpowering melodramatic style, but instead have that gentle undertone which leaves you either wanting to read more, or to feel genuinely connected to the writing.

The HotLits for the fifth edition are:
Weather by `
AbCat
A delightful poem by one of my personal favourite poets on dA.
Weather is a piece that anyone who has suffered the unpredictable British weather will more than definitely associate with!
Giving Up by ~
EveningDownpour
When I mentioned writing that makes an impact without being dramatic, this piece is more than a good example. The most striking impact being, this prose piece is categorised as non-fiction.
Mist by =
RetroZombie
As one of the members who participated and completed last months NaNoWriMo, =
RetroZombie has produced this poem, which with its open interpretation leaves me wandering if this was an expression of his relief on completing the project.
Letter to Mondrian by *
RickDanger
Before the workshop on *
Writers-Workshop, I had never heard of the phrase Ekphrases, but the most recent workshop produced this brilliant poem by *
RickDanger which defines exactly what it was. An abstract image, but a clear and well-written poem.

The Clockmaker- Assimilated by ^
PoeticWar
Our Literature GDs write well too! Here is a great example of why ^
PoeticWar is a poetic wonder. This poem was a great read after watching the last in the series of
Heros last week, but unlike Sylar, this clockmaker seems to stick to the job!

Children of Today by *
sphirux
We know no generation is like the ones before, but with 10 year olds killing each other, teenage pregnancies and other mad things I know I never did when I was younger. This simple poem by :devphirux: questions those issues, and ponders the future.
The Walker by *
Treyos
This is another piece of non-fiction prose to end this week, and another piece that touches with sentimentality, without the need of being over emotive. *
Treyos shares a true account and thoughts about a character simply known to the world as The Walker- a piece with great potential.
Well, that is seven simply sexy pieces of literature from this week! Please let me know if you like the new format, and also dont forget to share the love!

The Fantasy literature forum is currently in a trial period as its state has slipped over the years, and the Literature Workshop is begging for more people to take up some genuine work shopping of their pieces. The poetry and prose forum always loves a bit of attention too.

I am hoping some wonderful staff member crosses the path soon and corrects it. If not, I continue to hang my head in shame.
