Chatroom Management

You want to set up your chatroom so that only the people you trust have control. Remember that the chatroom you create is ultimately your responsibility.

Give proper consideration to who is able to promote to the different groups. Careful planning will avoid situations where your chatroom has seemingly been "hacked" and all your Members have been banned. Chatrooms do not get "hacked" - it happens because of carelessness, giving the wrong people power, or just a misunderstanding of how chatroom privileges work.

You are expected to maintain a certain amount of control in your chatroom and make sure that it abides by the rules for Unofficial Chatrooms on dAmn. A good strategy for ensuring this is to promote enough trusted friends to a privclass that has +kick and +ban privileges - after all, you can't be in your chatroom every minute of the day to moderate it all by yourself.

Tis the Season to be Troll-Like!

Christmas is almost upon us, and everyone is full of joy and mince pies. Tis the season to be jolly for some, but we all know how much you lot love a good old trollfest.

So -- without further delay, a challenge! This is your chance to take part in a contest where you can get rewarded for witty, amusing and insulting posts in specially designated forum threads. Please remember to keep within policy, but to lay down the smack in true troll-like style.

A great example of how much fun this is can be viewed here. Be sure to get all the information on this challenge in this forum post.

Of course if you spot a real troll in the forums make sure you drop by the #MNAdmin chatroom and report it to us.

Also, be sure to be around #devart and the rest of dAmn during the Christmas Holidays. You never know, Santa may run some contests and give away prizes!

Upcoming Changes!

There are quite a few reasons why you might want to give ownership of your chatroom to someone else. Maybe you have a popular chatroom but you're too busy to run it, or maybe you created a chatroom that someone else wants. Stay tuned for an upcoming policy that will allow you to officially request the chatroom ownership to be transferred to another deviant. Further details and instructions on doing this will be announced later.

Remember that the chatroom "owner" is the person who is ultimately responsible for the chatroom and this person always has +admin rights.
