Poetry Feature #65

*TheFavoritesProject:iconTheFavoritesProject: reports, July 13
We've featured 65 poems since we opened our satellite account in 2007! Another one of the poems we featured received a DD before we had a chance to post it, so we posted two features this week. View the most recent feature here, as well a list of all the previous poems featured by TFP. If you like what you see, than devwatch the account because we feature a new one every week! No membership is required.

#Underlit Member’s Projects Feature

~underlit:iconunderlit: reports, December 14, 2007
:iconunderlit: #underlit isn’t just a chat. It’s a creative community of people who like to discuss literature without the distraction everyday chit-chat. It’s also something of a think-tank, and intelligent conversation on any topic is welcome. Our regular folk tend to know what they’re talking about when it comes to lit, so feel free to drop by for a critique too, if you like. All you need do to become a member is hang out and demonstrate a genuine interest in literature (and not talk crap).

Keep an eye on *underlit in 2008 – we have some amazing things planned for the year.

:bulletblue: :bulletgreen: To celebrate our arrival, we thought it would be neat to feature some of the great things our current Members are doing for the community:
______________

:sun: #underlit Features: PUBLICATIONS:sun:

:iconpoeticwar: :bulletgreen::bulletblue: MIMESIS POETRY JOURNAL :bulletgreen::bulletblue:

--from the ~mimesis deviantART page:

Mimesis is a recently established international poetry journal that is published quarterly. Small and big names rub shoulders in the magazine's glossy 6x9 production, and each issue features an interview with an established poet alongside around 50 pages of poetry and assorted illustrations.

_______________

:iconsoundzine: :bulletgreen::bulletblue: SOUNDZINE :bulletgreen::bulletblue:

-- from the Soundzine website:

~Soundzine is a not-for-profit audio e-zine featuring quality poetry and prose, plays, interviews and music, as well as excellent fine art and photography. They have featured many artists and writers from deviantART.

:bulletred: ~Soundzine is currently auditioning for in-house readers for prose, poetry and plays.

______________

:iconsrsmith: :bulletgreen::bulletblue: 365Tomorrows :bulletgreen::bulletblue:

This project has been running three years now, and regularly features sci-fi flash-fic from deviantART members. The idea is to publish a short piece of science fiction every day of the year.

If you can write a good flash-fic of 600 words or less, you should read their submission guidelines and write something to submit!

:sun: #underlit Features: COMPETITIONS:sun:

:iconapocathary: :bulletgreen::bulletblue: The Jon-Law Journals :bulletgreen::bulletblue:

A fun competition in honour of one of dA’s best-loved prosewriters, and in which you could win a 6-months subscription.

Keep an eye on *apocathary -- he’s always up to something creative for the lit community to be involved in. Also, he has an excellent blog, Tooth Soup.

________________

:iconsalshep: :bulletgreen::bulletblue: The Armchair Travel Comp :bulletgreen::bulletblue:

*salshep wants to know where you live! This competition is for prose and poetry, and asks you to write something that truly depicts the essence of the place where you live.

The best piece of Poetry and Prose will each win a three-month subscription.

________________

:iconsoundzine: :bulletgreen::bulletblue: The One-Act Play Competition :bulletgreen::bulletblue:

If drama is your thing, check out this comp. ~Soundzine is offering prizes to a total value of $250 US for the best one-act plays submitted. Click the link above for details – and it closes December 30, so if you’ve not already entered, better hurry!

:sun: #underlit Features: COMMUNITY PROJECTS:sun:

:iconunderlit: :bulletblue: :bulletgreen: Poetry Is… :bulletblue: :bulletgreen:

The first of *underlit’s planned community projects, Poetry Is… is seeking to gather definitions, opinions and perceptions of what poetry is and means to the deviantART literature community. Send a short paragraph in by note, if you have something to say! All comments are posted anonymously.

:iconsynith: :bulletgreen::bulletblue: ~TheScript :bulletgreen::bulletblue:

And it’s about time.

There’s such a desperate need for a focus on plays here, and this project is a very worthwhile one. Synith is dedicated to making this THE place for deviantART playwrights and lovers of the –right- kind of drama to hang out. Stop by and give it some support.

_______________

:iconordie: :bulletgreen::bulletblue: *DeadLanguageSociety :bulletgreen::bulletblue:

Whatever happened to Latin, anyway? ~ordie might be able to tell us.

If you’re a lover of old languages, take a look at this club. And it’s not only for officially “dead” languages, but those that are rare, and threatened with extinction. If you know or are interested in a dead/rare language this is the place to stop by.

______________

:icons1mbelmyne: :bulletgreen::bulletblue: *languageART :bulletgreen::bulletblue:

Another project that’s catering to an underexposed group, *languageART is a project to bring to light the many wonderful works of calligraphy and typography around dA. Just browsing their favourites is a real treat. Keep an eye out for their competition!

______________

:iconsalshep: :bulletgreen::bulletblue: *TranslationChain, *journalfav :bulletgreen::bulletblue:

*TranslationChain is a project to encourage multilingual folks to get together and have some fun, and an experiment in what happens when a text is passed through a ‘chain’ of different languages.

*journalfav is a response to the comment seen so many times around dA: “If only I could fave this journal!” Well, now you can. Send *journalfav a link to your favourite journal entries with a brief note about why you think it should be featured, and it will be!

_______________

:sun: #underlit Member’s Projects Feature: COMING SOON! :sun:

:iconthekingoffall: :iconskufti: :iconmediatedballe: :bulletgreen::bulletblue: Prints For Poetry: :bulletgreen::bulletblue:

This project was run very successfully through #PoetRangers a while back. The idea is to provide a weekly prompt and a time limit within which to write a piece of prose or poetry, the best of which win a print.

It’s soon to be revived in conjuction with #underlit, so keep your eye out for news.

:sun: :bulletgreen::bulletblue: And That’s All Folks! (for now, at least) :bulletgreen::bulletblue: :sun:

( if we’ve forgotten anyone or anything, blame *salshep )

We’ll be sure to keep you updated as new projects and comps come in!
