Honestly, I'm kind of sick of the politically correct don't-offend-anyone BS.

Modeling is about appearance. You're modeling someone's creation. Would you put your best, most-loved piece of art that you put ridiculous amounts of time and energy into on wall in a bathroom stall to display it to the world? . . . I wouldn't, anyway. I have more respect for my work than that. I also wouldn't model my own clothes, if I was a fashion designer.
Why? Because I'm a fat chick without a camera-friendly look, and I would want my art to be presented in the best possible way. On a not-fat-chick who knows how to put on the best show for my art.
Some of us can model, some of us can't, and some of us fall somewhere in between. I wouldn't discourage someone from trying, but I sure as hell wouldn't hand out a contract to any trashy hopeful that walked off the street.

. . . As for music, this debate has gone on for decades. The solution? There's a knob on your radio, or a power button, or a plug. There's often a button on remotes, the little square symbol. . . it stops it. The fact is, sex sells. Women are not objects. You're right. But sexuality is a huge part of our society and, as such, a huge part of the way we express ourselves in music. And on television. And on the internet. And in every other form of media you can think of. Just because so many of us enjoy sexual relationships where, in bed, the woman is subservient, doesn't necessarily mean the female is subservient in life. If she is, you can help her get help. But to like sexual dominance and/or subservience is not a societal problem. It's a sexual preference. . . which is mirrored in our musical tastes, to an extent.
People have stood up in hip hop music to try to change that message. It hasn't caught on. Why? Because we like our bitches 'n' hoes. We like imagining a world where we can fuck anyone and anything we can touch, and make them get us a sandwich when we're done. We like to imagine. We have a dream!

This is the same kind of idea that blames school shootings on Marilyn Manson. Really, it's getting kind of old to me.

I LOVE big boned women, I love ALL different SIZES. if i ever HOSTED a Fashion show, Id make all woman, becasue your not just beautiful in ONE size. we shouldn't discourage anyone from doing so. but everyone, yes also the people are shallow as well. Im not but like 99% of americans are. where so shallow, thats why it shows in the music, and in the shows, its all for money. there are only a couple people that SING from the heart and mean it but there not really popular no one cares about the girls that are modest and dont wanna dress all freaky.

WOW!! Ive nevar read something like this and when you put it this way I think your absolutely right. Some people have been degrading my sister because she didnt come from an artistic family and she was making art herself. They told her she needed to stop!! The nerve of ome people! I think those type of people need to het over themselves. As for modeling, people dont understand that you dont need to puke up your food to be a model! If you just eat right and exercise they can look like models too!! I know because I'm FINALLY losing weight!! And all Im doing is exercising and eating right! That should be a message to evryone!

Good article, I'm glad to see someone shares my thoughts.
I'm always getting pressured to change who I am, and it's really quite sad.
I'm a Christian, but I'm also human and sometimes people forget that. Even Christians can get depressed; it doesn't make us sick or emo, just human.
I really wish people would really dive into every category and see what needs to be changed, then actually try to change it. We COULD make our world a better place.
