The first half of a two-part article on cliches vs. originality, split because of length. It may require some cleaning up; please note me with criticisms, as I don't always see comments left on news articles. Thank you.

Break Down The Writing Wall!

~Lady-Shade:iconLady-Shade: reports, November 20
Has writing lost its luster? That shiny quality that you saw when you first started out? Maybe it has. Maybe it hasn't. But we all run into problems and sooner or later we all hit that proverbial wall. We all hit it at some point but what sets some a part from others is the fact that they charge, give a mighty battle roar, and blast that wall down while still having fun with their writing. Why can't this be you?

Resources for Young Writers

Resources for Young Writers

You may think that you have to become an adult to share and publish your writing, but there are resources all over the web that can help you share your work now. There’s nothing stopping you from getting involved. In fact, there is a whole mass of magazines and communities out there waiting for young writers to get involved. In this article, I’ve collected various resources for you to browse through.

Note: Be sure to read all rules and guidelines before submitting, and check with your parents. Remember, be wary of scams, be safe, and don’t agree to anything without reading first. Also, check for the age limits. Some competitions and magazines only allow certain ages to submit.

Success Stories

There are many authors out there who started writing at a young age.

In the Forests of the Night by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes – Written when she was 13

Eragon by Christopher Paolini – Written when he was 15

The Outsiders by SE Hinton – Written when she was 16

The Icarus Girl by Helen Oyeyemi – Written when she was 18

Frankenstein by Mary Shelley – Written when she was 19

An Eighteen Year Old Looks Back On Life by Joyce Maynard – Written when she was 19

The point is, you can pursue a career of writing at any age, and people find success in different places. Maybe one day you’ll be lucky enough to see your name on the cover of a book, or a magazine. It doesn’t necessarily have to be now, or later. If you work on it, you’ll get there.

I'm glad you could make use of it. I'm not a fan of all the authors up there either, but I tried to find names that people would know. :)
