DECIMATION; the time of reckoning

DECIMATION is an Original Character Battle Contest, much like *OCBC and Samurai Duelers League. You design an Original Character, Audition and are placed in elimination matches against other competitors. The winners will receive prizes for their effort.

BACKGROUND

Far in the distant future, the earth has crawled into a dystopian civilization torn apart by the chaos and disorder.

Magic and Science clash and humans and other beings alike seek to harness either power for their own self-righteous desires. The Earth has lost itself in the endless cycle of decay and misery.

As a mortal born into this world, would you simply stand by and watch everything around you crumble into nothing? Would you not want to rebuild it with your hands and purge these impurities?

You have two choices.

To one side hails El-ahrairah, a wise mystic who remains convinced that the only way to end Gaia’s suffering is through the purification of the world? He entices you to aid him bring forth the dawn of a new Genesis from the rebirth of our world.

Or, you could choose to side with Inle-Frith, a brave warrior who preaches about striving to rebuild everything step by step. Unlike El-ahrairah, Inle-Frith believes in the power of determination, and that there is still hope for Gaia as she is.

Do you choose to continue fighting for the bright tomorrow promised? Or is renewal the only path back to paradise?

SYSTEM

The Contest works like a prolific story splitting up into two branches. The happenings in the matches will dictate future happenings and possible events.

Two factions shall be formed; the Providence & the Exeunt. The Providence shall be the followers of Inle-Frith while the Exeunt are followers of El-ahrairah. Members of one team will be matched up against someone on the other team and so on. However, because the contest is a progressive story line, we will give opportunities for your character to switch side if you so please. While we may not forcibly relocate you to another team, we highly encourage the shift if after a certain round, the number of members on a side is imbalanced.

Plot twists may also occur which require you to fight against a fellow member of your team. To win a duel, your character must render their opponent unable to continue fighting. Entries of the winners per round will be the only ones considered ‘canon’ to the story line.

AUDITIONING

Requirements are as follows:
+A Reference sheet. (Reference sheets must contain a full body image of your character, front and back view, a close up on their face and any other important details and a side-view of at least their head.)
+An Introduction. The introduction must show some background on which your fighter is and what their stand is, as well as them contacting either of the two leaders expressing their interest to join their ranks.

All entries must be in before February 7, 2008. The time followed will be Eastern Standard Time (UTC−5; 07:00).

LIMITATIONS

Character
+Only one character may be registered per person. If you really want a side-character to tag along, they may not assist in the fight.
+Character does not have to be human. Their race may be anything that can inhabit the earth. But, character may not be an ‘Alien’, and completely made-up races of your design must be checked by the judges before approval.
+While Kemono, Kemonomimi, Android & Cyborg characters are allowed, we ask you to refrain from making characters out of inanimate objects.
+Absolutely no fan characters.

Matches
+Every Round lasts for 15 days. Extensions are given to everyone if at least 10% will need it to finish their matches.
+There in no maximum or minimum number of pages to your entry.
+Writing and Photography are not an allowed medium for your entries.

Your judges will be

Judging will be based on creativity of the entry, neatness and cleanliness, characterization and over-all appeal. Bonus points for accuracy to the storyline. Comments will be left from the judges after the matches.
