HAPPY NEW YEAR 2008

May I take this opportunity to wish everyone a very happy, healthy and prosperous New Year.

There is much planned for PixelArt and the Doll Gallery for 2008 and look foreward to them being a really special part of dA in the coming months.

I would like to sincerely thank all those wonderful people who have spent time on the Help Desk reporting miscats....I don't always note you my thanks but I always take note of your efforts.

To those who report Copyright Infringements, I don't see who does this but I thank you for doing so, it is such an important part of attempting to keep the Galleries in high repute and keep art theft to a minimum.



Objectives for 2008

My objective for 2008 is to raise the knowledge, understanding and profile of PixelArt at dA. It is a unique art form, often misunderstood and subject to a lot of confusion and controversy about exactly what it is.

Dolls are a great artform and need to have far more notice taken of them. We need to grow the community even more, now that Dollers have their own Gallery at dA and can display their beautiful work no matter what technique is used. It is now one, strong community moving foreward together in step with one another.




PixelArt Definition

Shortly I will be writing up a Journal containing an outline as to the guidelines for creating PixelArt. There will be disagreement as there are many definitions of PixelArt. It has never really had a tight, clear definition and has always been somewhat open to personal interpretation because it has evolved from a very basic style of creating lightweight computer gaming artwork.

It has now taken on a life of its own, come of age if you will.

As I am the person responsible for maintaining the tidiness of the PA Galleries I need to work within a clear and specific definition in order to decide if I feel a piece is 'genuine' PixelArt or not.

I will give you all my definition as to what I feel is acceptable PixelArt...it may well not suit all and it won't but I must make it clear as to what my boundaries are when I maintain the PA Galleries.

Please do not think I am attempting to create the universal definition for PixelArt for all time...I am not, but I am going to define it for dA for the present time, as I need guidelines to tidy the Galleries as much as Artists need to know what is acceptable here and won't be moved.


The First Six Months

I have been Gallery Director at dA for PixelArt for six months beginning my role on July 3rd 2007. I arrived to an all time mess of miscats, copyright violations, a place abandoned by many of the great Pixelartists. It has been an incredibly difficult six months as there had not been a dedicated PA Gallery Director for a long time, so I was not taking over from someone but trying to recreate something which had been somewhat abandoned. I have been abused, called filthy names, unjustly criticized, sworn at, accused of corruption plus a host of other unfair, unjust things.....I don't care...do your worst! You are not a friend of PixelArt.

My main objective when I arrived was to tidy the Galleries....it is an enormous task everyday, seven days a week but most satisfying when looking over some of the lovely work now being displayed here and seeing many of the PixelArtists returning to dA and some wonderful new Artists arriving to share their work.

PixelArt at dA is the most important thing in my focus and I will go down fighting to make it great for dA and for the PixelArtists who contribute their incredibly beautiful and time consuming artworks .

Please walk with me as we travel into this new and wonderful period for PixelArt and Dolls at deviantART....be a part of the future and never hold back if you want to write to me privately....I love to hear from you, I read and reply to your PMs and no one is ever a 'nuisance' no matter if you have something positive or negative to say....talk to me, I am listening.

This is the lady who has gone out of her way to do everything possible to help me revive PA at dA. She has always been there, listened and responded faster than light.
