I asked a bunch of deviants - - to help me feature some of their personal favourites from 2007. We all picked from our own faves, our own criteria of what blew our minds and some choose to leave comments and words on why they like the images and how they make them feel. It's become very different selections, showing the variety of dA, both when it comes to making the art and loving and faving it.

With this we want to say thanks to all who made us go "wow" and take an extra moment in front of dA in 2007. It's only a fraction of all the good stuff here on dA, we struggled hard to select among many fantastic faves and sadly we can't show all that we like and we probably yet haven't discovered it all either. Picking out my favourite deviations of the year proved to be an impossible task; there are way too many awesome pieces out there to choose from. I feature around 150 deviations each month in my journal, and every single one of them is a favourite. I cannot select 15 specific ones out of thousands of collected this year, it is just not possible
So, I decided to go about this differently: I will select a piece each from 15 of my favourite artists on my watchlist instead

To me, this is a jaw dropping photo and HDR at it's finest. There are details within the details... I love to just stare at this image.

Shelly Alexander is one of my favorite photographers to watch here on DA. His images are all fantastic - but this one not only shows off his composition skill, but his technical skills also. He is always trying new processes - and this image shows off the results.

My Body Is A Cage by =chakrabird
First, No, I'm not sucking up to the writer of this article. Second, this composition has many qualities that make it one of my top 10. I am a lover of texture and detail, contrast and tones - and this deviation has all those. Call me easy - but I have to include this one.

As a kid "Secret of Nimh" was one of my favorite movies, and when I saw this image in my message center it took me back.

A simple bold image of a lamp shade. Everything around us is beautiful in someway....

Dennis is another of my favorite photographers. This image of his has beautiful depth, contrast and color.

It took me a moment to find the right perspective to identify what this was an image of. The angle, color tone, and repetitive elements all make this a great composition.

There is such an ethereal feel to this, and the fact that it is made out of layered paper makes it that more interesting. One of the most beautiful creations of the year.

This one has a great title which really applies to the feeling it has, and i really like how it's different in small and full view.

This picture is maybe grotesque but it has some kind of simmetry and it has some kind of beauty.

The painter explains the inspiration quite well in the artist's comments but he doesn't tell us about those incredibly void eyes.

Both being an abstract and a portrait, this picture carries really heavy feelings and thoughts enhanced by it's title.

eros by ~Valleysequence
The title is Eros, which leads us to the the concept of love but the picture has another, apocalyptic face too. Maybe there's no difference in fact.

Gaps to fill by ~Nesten
The concept and the intertextuality is already very great behind this picture, but the concept's execution makes it the most powerful mixed media I've ever seen. My friend said it's he felt it's weight on his shoulders. I feel it too, felt it when i saw it first time and feel it still.
