Artistic Nudes - A study by Fahd A. Paracha

=fahap:iconfahap: reports, 2d 8h ago
Depictions of nudity refers to nudity in all the artistic disciplines including vernacular and historical depictions. Nudity in art has generally conformed — with some variation — to social standards for public nudity; in cultures where nudity was accepted, nude figures in painting and sculpture were as well.

deviantART's Mature Content Hypocrisy

*sephys-little-cloud:iconsephys-little-cloud: reports, 2d 1h ago

deviantART CEA; FAQ #565 and Policy Interpretation

=exsecror:iconexsecror: reports, 21h 53m ago
The purpose or rather intent of this news article is to address the increasing concerns by many deviantART members (including myself) as to the recent results from the new Policy Violation Reporting System and the deviantART Copyright Etiquette and Administration (CEA) team. I should stress that this is not meant as an attack or attempt to defame what the CEA team does. They do a fantastic job at making sure that deviantART is clean but rather it addresses a serious concern about interpretations of two FAQs, namely #565 and their compliance with United States Code Statutes.

Moments in time - 2007 features

=chakrabird:iconchakrabird: reports, January 1
I asked a bunch of deviants - :icondorothei::iconpahness::iconkumiko-mckee::icontlbendele::iconleesaf::iconconatgion::iconjilllenad::iconpaintspills::iconvirgo-e: - to help me feature some of their personal favourites from 2007. We all picked from our own faves, our own criteria of what blew our minds and some choose to leave comments and words on why they like the images and how they make them feel. It's become very different selections, showing the variety of dA, both when it comes to making the art and loving and faving it.

With this we want to say thanks to all who made us go "wow" and take an extra moment in front of dA in 2007. It's only a fraction of all the good stuff here on dA, we struggled hard to select among many fantastic faves and sadly we can't show all that we like and we probably yet haven't discovered it all either. Please have a look and be inspired for the year to come. Happy New Year

An image that brings back all the light memories and intense emotions of our childhood and pure "old fashioned" and evergreen b&w film photography, another thing that's been passed from generation to generation.

Picking out my favourite deviations of the year proved to be an impossible task; there are way too many awesome pieces out there to choose from. I feature around 150 deviations each month in my journal, and every single one of them is a favourite. I cannot select 15 specific ones out of thousands of :+fav: collected this year, it is just not possible
So, I decided to go about this differently: I will select a piece each from 15 of my favourite artists on my watchlist instead :D
These people are frequently featured in my journals, and every time they submit something I almost always :+fav: it. Which means they're awesome, right? ;)

So without further ado, here are my 15 favourite deviations of the year:

fav n run by =bad-blood
I have to pick "fav n run" by =bad-blood - because I'm very guilty of it.

March of the Turtles I by ~bloodXorange
A beautiful photograph, perfect in it's execution. The image is inspiring both technically and emotionally.

waterfall in the forest - HDR by =hasablanca
To me, this is a jaw dropping photo and HDR at it's finest. There are details within the details... I love to just stare at this image.

Floral in Color - Aug by *surrealeye
Shelly Alexander is one of my favorite photographers to watch here on DA. His images are all fantastic - but this one not only shows off his composition skill, but his technical skills also. He is always trying new processes - and this image shows off the results.

My Body Is A Cage by =chakrabird
First, No, I'm not sucking up to the writer of this article. Second, this composition has many qualities that make it one of my top 10. I am a lover of texture and detail, contrast and tones - and this deviation has all those. Call me easy - but I have to include this one.

Mice Templar by ~Roboworks
As a kid "Secret of Nimh" was one of my favorite movies, and when I saw this image in my message center it took me back.

Curvature by `nyssi
A simple bold image of a lamp shade. Everything around us is beautiful in someway....

Suffocating Sight by *Bavenmark
Dennis is another of my favorite photographers. This image of his has beautiful depth, contrast and color.

Brave New World by =artistech
It took me a moment to find the right perspective to identify what this was an image of. The angle, color tone, and repetitive elements all make this a great composition.

Woods by ~bo0sheke - This capture by Brian is very soft and dreamy, creating an atmosphere of wonder.

There is such an ethereal feel to this, and the fact that it is made out of layered paper makes it that more interesting. One of the most beautiful creations of the year.

My Conscience by ~habibityn
This one is slightly disturbing, but I really like the modeling, it is a masterwork of that style, and it creates a very stunning image.

Night on earth 2 by ~DrNoPlan
People are seldom captured as well as this. Exceptional.

Where worlds collide by =meemo

Breezer by =cabin-pressure
One of the best portraits I have ever seen, the way the eyes pick up the coloring in the background. It truly deserves a best of 2007

:iconconatgion: picked:

Some Clouds by *jumaxotl
This one appeared in my watch when i had the very same mood. And this is the only picture where i like smoking.

the last time... by *aglayan-agac
Again a picture that came just in the appropriate time. I thought than that this will be The Last Time. And the picture has a strong nostalgic feeling besides this.

The macabre daylight reflex. by ~whiteviolet
The shadows are perfect. The colors are perfect. And we still haven't talked about all the other things.

a zen moment by =SLPdomain
This one has a great title which really applies to the feeling it has, and i really like how it's different in small and full view.

angel by ~doss-house
This picture is maybe grotesque but it has some kind of simmetry and it has some kind of beauty.

Prow by *mooreartist
The painter explains the inspiration quite well in the artist's comments but he doesn't tell us about those incredibly void eyes.

fullmoonlight by ~betp
The concept is nice and the execution is great too. Just lovely.

An Exercise in Meaning by ~apatheticdivine
Both being an abstract and a portrait, this picture carries really heavy feelings and thoughts enhanced by it's title.

eros by ~Valleysequence
The title is Eros, which leads us to the the concept of love but the picture has another, apocalyptic face too. Maybe there's no difference in fact.

Gaps to fill by ~Nesten
The concept and the intertextuality is already very great behind this picture, but the concept's execution makes it the most powerful mixed media I've ever seen. My friend said it's he felt it's weight on his shoulders. I feel it too, felt it when i saw it first time and feel it still.

Bird Dreams Number 2 - Peg Legs by ~poxodd
This was just love at first sight. Of course this is what is looks like when birds dream. I have no doubt..

So Far Away From Me by `DenisOlivier
This speaks to me on many levels, it's the road that leads us to what we wants the most, it's an image of life with the clear present and blurred past and future, it is us going into the unknown...

Male Torso 1 by ~paulrichardjames
A great piece of traditional art, warm, intense and glowing with colour and life.

Fish by ~BoomBoomBa
Another love at first sight. Full of colour, hope and freedom.

Being a huge Cure fan I simply can't pass this one over. And there's just something about red guitars.. :D

Fake by ~semione
And red flowers.. I'm loving the strong contrast it makes against the subtle and melancholic background.

all by myself by *aglayan-agac
Conceptual art at its best. Sweet and simple.

Naturally, I took the blame... by =encefalocardia
Yes, smoking is very bad for your health, don't ever do it...unless of course it's for a picture this good ;-)

Bird by ~FrodoK
There's something both very attractive and very disturbing about this bird and it's glowing eye that I cannot let go.

-a'Liga- by =silwenka
This is so eye-catching and well composed.

The streets around me - Collab by ~Suncast
Very charming diptych about city life.
